Fighting For A Chance
The morning of September 7th wasn't supposed to be anything special. I woke up groggy after a restless night of sleep. Perhaps, it was my momma-senses that were tingling, having kept me awake that night, or maybe it was God trying to give me a heads up that something about that day would not go right.

Highschool Woes and Anxious Dreams
Music is a time-machine. When you spend so many minutes listening to the same songs and the same groups, your body is memorizing much more than just the lyrics or the beat. No. It's memorizing the feelings you felt, and the thoughts that crossed your mind. It's taking into account where you are, whether you're in the bedroom, cuddling with your best friend who is actually your dog, or the passenger's side of your Twin's car.

The Woman Adrift
The storm hit Falcon-88 out of nowhere. It was unlike anything Shauna had seen before. Rain tore through the darkened sky like bullets, drumming against the seasoned shrimp boat. Every beat seemed to give off a deep sense of nervous resonance that vibrated throughout both the boat and the crew. A thick and milky fog covered the top of the ocean water as they sailed blindly through the night.

It's the Little Things
I remember walking down the side of the road in the torrential rainfall. I had the small German shepherd pup in my arms, but he was shivering so badly. I decided to put him inside my hoodie so that my own body heat could warm him up. I recall feeling so close to him. I could feel his little chest rising and falling as he laid his head exasperatedly against my chest.

The One With the Intoxicated Neighbor
About a year ago, I found the perfect home for me. It was a bit of a fixer upper on the inside, but the outside amenities were wonderful. It had a fenced in yard, perfect for my three dogs and the cat who occasionally slips out the door. There was a covered deck out back for me to hang all sorts of plants. It even had a garage! The best part, however, was that it was being offered as a mortgage at a fairly reasonable price. I could be a homeowner.

The One with the Teacher Crush
I didn't expect to be unrelentingly enchanted by my professor. It just sort of happened. You simply start to develop this peculiar fascination with somebody. A sense of longing, almost like an addiction. You learn to enjoy their presence. To find their being there comforting and reassuring to you. I had never gotten up the courage to out myself as a lesbian before university. I definitely didn't plan on doing so in the middle of the classroom with a number of other individuals there with me, including the professor in question. No. This was most certainly not on the syllabus for those years at the university.

A Wandering Soul
In life, we are at times met with situations that cannot be explained by our own earthly terms. Events take place that leave us wondering how things fell the way they did, how our hearts could have gotten so lucky. When this happens, we tend to call these miracles. It's a word that, when taken into context, means an unnatural phenomenon. Something incredulous. Something that honestly had little to no chance of taking place. I would like to tell you the story of the time that I found mine.

Saying Yes to the Universe
The universe is an incredible place, vast and endless. Countless stars float around in these awe-inspiring galaxies. Millions of unexplored galaxies and planets swirl around our own giant piece of rock that holds a mass of a whopping 5.972 × 10^24 kg. Could that get any crazier? Well, it can, actually. This is because so much of our planet is still unexplored. Shout out to the Mariana Trench, that being the deepest part of the ocean. There's so much left to learn!
