This is it; this is my life in a nutshell. I never believed them when they told me I am not from around here. Denial, was my favorite policy until I broke into the storage facility and discovered the truth. Now with a gun in my hand, I contemplate whether or not to end everything.
They were after me. I knew I should not have done it, but for a woman, you end up doing just about anything. It was all supposed to be a wild lark, they were drunk and found themselves walking near that accursed facility. It was heavily guarded (or so I believed), every once in awhile a drone would fly by just to make sure that everything was still in order. That was when she looked at me with her beautiful baby blues and told me how hot it would be if I would steal one of the Stargates.
Another direct hit! One more hit and all shields will be down for good. His heart is racing he can’t remember the last time he has taken so much damage to his ship, maybe his reflexes are failing? Maybe he is not swerving quickly enough; maybe his return fire is a little slow.
Life is hard, that is what he was always told growing up. Waking up in a small cramped apartment, he knows life is hard. His place is a mess. His parents would be scolding him at this moment, but then again he is also a grown man twenty nine years young. Almost thirty? Yes, his birthday happens to be next week. Friends ask him what he would like? He always tells them some top of the line Android to clean up his small apartment. People laugh and call him lazy… but that is life. He doesn't deny it. He is a bit of a beach bum. Riding the waves all day seems like paradise, but instead, he is riding his ass on a cramped technical terror, underneath the city heading to his lovely destination where he gets to stare at screens and does bitch work for “highly educated folks.” Naturally, they look at him condescendingly at every turn. Since he is not “special” or “part of that world.” His feet have always been firmly planted in the middling world. Mom and Dad were the “middling sort” worked hard, for the money, spoiled him rotten, but somehow he still always felt they never loved him. Everyone has told him that is ridiculous of course his parents loved him? It is illegal to not love your child.
Lost in thought, feeling so wired… this incredible high from the amphetamines is so powerful. Many call it an addiction, however, he has discovered it goes beyond that. This is a way of life. Everything is better when he is wired; he feels stronger, he feels more confident. Being wired is a way of life and in this dog eat dog world we live in every little edge helps. The amphetamines helped him through a very dark time when he refused to eat, or sleep, or screw. He feels like life has been drained from him, as if the visiting succubus has decided to do away with him for good. But he survived this time, with a little help from his friends.
The storm raged on for a week, months; it was one of the biblical proportions. It looked so beautiful from a distance; he has always had a great love for the power of Mother Nature. But this storm is far from being natural… in fact when a multi-billion dollar corporation is operating a massive weather machine which covers the globe these storms are human-made disasters. He remembers hearing tales of naturally occurring storms, beautiful dark gray clouds, bringing down a light show like nobody had ever seen before or even anticipated. However, those were the storms of his ancestors; those were storms that as of today exist only in myth and legend.
