The Painting
She stood in the middle of the great living room, looking at the spot where she had found her grandmother, lifeless, only weeks ago. Ironic Grandmama died in this room out of all the rooms, she thought. Her grandmother had been living alone for quite a while, her tiny person lonesome in the fairly large manor that had been passed down to the first-borns of the Harrison family for many generations now. Grandpapa had been the second-born child in his family, but a tragic accident to his brother at a young age made him the heir of the manor, a title he took on with pain but nonetheless with dignity to do right by his brother. Abby never got the chance to meet her grandfather's brother, but she had often visited his empty grave with her grandmother and father.

My Pride Playlist throughout Coming Out.
Paradox: I knew it but I also had no idea. You hear the word gay but you’re not sure what it means. All you know are the laughs, snickers, and uncomfortable faces that follow. You try to distance yourself as far from that word as possible. You’re attracted to girls. You know it, you feel it, but you’re thinking of princes. You’ve been told one day you’d find your Prince. And you think that’s reality, the one and only way of reality being. You hear Lady Gaga’s Born This Way. It comforts you. You don’t quite understand why. Yes, it’s a great song, with a great beat. Everyone is dancing. But there’s something more. You feel better in your own skin, you’re not doing anything wrong.

Colors
Living in the city, it is not often that I have the chance to observe any color other than the green of the foliage and the gray of the buildings. Of course, there are beautifully painted murals and even some artistic graffiti that makes the city more lively but when it comes to wildlife, you’d be lucky if you came across a bright red Northern Cardinal or a Wood Pecker covered in spots with a red – and maybe yellow – tuft of hair on its head. That’s why when I took a trip to Mexico, I made it my mission to capture the most vibrant, colorful wildlife I could find.
