In the realm of modernity's sway,

The idealist dances in disarray,

Lost in a world of concrete dreams,

Where reality's seams burst at the seams.

With eyes alight with fervent zeal,

They forge ahead, their visions real,

But in this landscape, harsh and stark,

Their noble dreams soon lose their spark.

They preach of justice, love, and light,

Yet blinded by their own hindsight,

They stumble on, oblivious still,

To the bitter truth that lurks, concealed.

In their pursuit of a utopian gleam,

They're ensnared by the world's regime,

Where power and greed hold sway,

And noble intentions fade away.

Their cries for change, though loud and clear,

Echo in a void, fall on deaf ears,

For in this world of cynic's snare,

Idealism crumbles, laid bare.

Yet still they cling to lofty dreams,

Ignoring reality's ruthless schemes,

Their hearts ablaze with fervent hope,

Bound to the idealist's fragile rope.

But as they tread this treacherous ground,

Their dreams shattered, hopes unbound,

They come to learn, though it be late,

That reality's bite seals their fate.

So let us heed this cautionary tale,

Of the idealist's quest, and its travail,

For in a world where cynics thrive,

Idealism struggles to survive.
