A Quiet Ending

I hate that I changed for you

Bent myself back and forth to comfort you

Swallowed my words to save your ego

Lowered myself to let your pride stand tall

What are you now that I am gone

Replacements could never let you fly as high as I could

I took your delusions of grandeur to God & asked him to exchange it for destiny

I fasted to rid your sins of promiscuity in hopes you'd gain purpose

What am I now that I no longer pray for you

Some say free

I say settled

A season has ended, a door closed, a person of growth

One soul left to keep learning the hard lessons.
