Spider-Man: Brand New Day! Let’s goooo! Okay, so I was beyond geeked to see this movie and the direction it would take after Peter had everyone forget who he was, including his nearest and dearest friend, Ned, and also his MJ! For me, I loved some moments of the movie and some moments not so much. Overall, I would give Brand New Day an 8/10 rating, which is still pretty good! So, let’s dive into it. What I was really a big fan of was Peter going through his phase of his powers spiraling, him getting organic webs and super senses, and having to work through that. I also loved Jean Grey's introduction into the MCU! I really like the actress Marvel cast to play her; she fits the role perfectly for Jean, and her storyline introduction was amazing, displaying how powerful she is at such a young age. I love the plot twist/storyline where it appears that Jean was the “villain,” but it turns out she was the victim and was looking for her sister. Later in the movie, we realize Damage Control attempted to manipulate her power, which ended up killing her. All along, Damage Control was really the villain; the writing behind that was really good! I do like the fight scenes in the movie, although I think they could have been a little better, but they were solid, especially when Peter hit peak power against the red ninjas! I wasn’t so much a fan of the Punisher in the movie, but I understand the role he played. It was also refreshing to see Bruce Banner's Hulk in prime form, not in between aggressive and smart Hulk. I think Marvel’s introduction of the X-Men and Fantastic Four is flawless, and Brand New Day definitely laid some stepping stones for Doomsday!
