Gmail is a very prominent and profound email service provider that is being used by people around the world, which was introduced by a well-known company, Google. By making a Gmail account, we get access to many other services and apps provided by Google which are used by us in our day-to-day lives such as Google Meet for organizing meetings, Docx for making reports and other documents, Sheets for organizing data, Drive for storing important documents and files, and much more, which if we went on the listing will require a whole new article. Despite being using a very popular email service provider, people often come across Gmail won't load issues very often.

In this article, we are going to see some common issues due to which you can face the Gmail loading problem and their troubleshooting methods.

Common Gmail Not Loading Problems

Here is the list of some common problems which can give you the answer to your Why wont my Gmail load question. So without talking much, let’s go through these issues.

Problem 1: Browser Compatibility Issue with Gmail

In order to use Gmail, the first thing that you need to ensure that the browser you are using to access it, is compatible with Gmail. If you are not using a browser that Gmail supports then you would not be able to get into your account.

Following is the list of browsers in which Gmail works the best:

  • Google Chrome: As Chrome is also a Google product like Gmail, therefore, Gmail works best in the Chrome browser. To get the maximum efficiency and better experience it is advised to use the latest version of Chrome.
  • Chromebook: It is another version of Chrome, an advanced one. In order to use Gmail in it, you first have to update its operating system. In order to do so, check for the “Update Available” notification. There you have to select the “Restart to Update” option. The Chromebook will update itself and restart, after which you can easily use Gmail in it and you will not face Gmail won't load problems.
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft edge
  • Safari

If you are using a compatible browser and still not able to access Gmail, then these troubleshooting methods might help you:

  • Set Your Browser to Allow JavaScript
  • If you are getting the message “In order to log in to Gmail, your browser must be set to allow JavaScript to set cookies”, then you might have to do some of your browser’s settings and allow JavaScript to it so that it can set cookies. For doing so, open your browser’s settings and go to the Security tab. There you have to add https://mail.google.com to the site that you trust.

    2. Enable JavaScript on your browser

You will keep on asking Why wont my Gmail load question to yourself if you won’t enable JavaScript in your browser. If you see an “Oops! Gmail won't work because JavaScript is disabled in your web browser” message then you should know that you have to turn on your browser’s JavaScript. This can be easily done by going to its settings page.

Problem 2: Malfunctioning of Applications and Browser Extensions

At times it happens that the extensions added to your browser might malfunction and hinder the accessibility of some websites or the antivirus and firewall software installed in your computer can also create obstruction while accessing Gmail due to which Gmail wont open on android or other devices.

In order to get rid of this problem, you have to turn off each of the extensions or software one at a time to get to the one that is misbehaving. After finding it you can turn it off or grant special permission to it to access Gmail.

Problem 3: Error in Cookies and Cache of the Browser

When we visit a website for the first time on the internet, our browser stores some information about that website in the form of Cookies and Cache. Cookies are the file that contains brief information about the website so as to make your experience easier and cache are the small parts of the webpages like images and other media which are used later by the browser to load that webpage faster.

While storing this information, these files can get corrupted and this causes hindrance in proper accessibility of websites. This is one of the prominent reasons behind Gmail wont open on android phones or other devices. Thus, you must clear all the cookies and cache from your browser and try accessing Gmail again.

Following are the steps to clear these files from Google Chrome, these steps are more or less similar for other browsers:

  • Open Chrome on your desktop or laptop.
  • Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the Chrome home page.
  • Go to More Tools and then to Clear Browsing Data tap.
  • You can select the time within which you want to delete the cookies and cache files for Gmail won't load problem. If you want to delete all of these files, choose the All Time option.
  • Check the boxes that are adjacent to the “Cookies & other site data” and “Cached images and files” options.
  • Lastly, click on the Clear Data button.
  • Restart your browser and then try accessing Gmail.
  • apps
