How Does Smart App Control Work?

Whenever we try to open an app on our windows devices, the intelligent cloud-powered security service of Microsoft Smart App Control checks the app and makes a convincing prediction that the particular app is safe to use or not. If the Microsoft security service believes that the app user is opening is safe then it will allow the user to use the app. And if it is not then it will block the app and it will not allow it to run.

Now you were thinking what if Microsoft security service were unable to make a convincing prediction? Right? So in that case, Microsoft security service is not able to make any predictions. Then the Microsoft Smart App Control checks the signature of the app. If it finds the valid signature then it allows the app to run on the device. And if the signature is not valid then Microsoft Smart App Control will block the app and not allow the app to run on the device.

Unable To See Smart App Control Option In Setting?

By ensuring the safety of Windows 11 users by allowing only properly licensed and authorised applications to run on the system. But there is a drawback to this. Smart App Control is developed at the core of the operating system. If you are unable to see the Smart App Control option in the setting then the user needs to reset and reinstall its operating system in order to make use of this new security feature. But the newly installed or freshly installed users of windows 11 will be unaffected.

What Is Evaluation Mode?

This is a phase during which Microsoft Windows tries to check if you’re a good user for Smart App Control. If you’re a good user then this Smart App Control will automatically turn on. If not then it will be turned off. The Smart App Control does not block anything while you’re in evaluation mode.

After the evaluation is finished. Or if the user tries to manually switch Smart App Control to On or Off, the user will not be able to return to evaluation mode until and unless you reinstall or reset your windows.
