Tubi TV: Unlocks a door to a pleasant past

Tubi television streaming service has something for everyone but it is truly a dream come true for baby boomers. Many of those born between 1948 and 1964 long for the days when you could watch Tv and movies without profanity or explicit sex scenes. Boomers love the programming we grew up with and Tubi will give it to you in spades. If you love to get lost in G-PG rated drama, romance action, and adventure then you might want to give Tubi a try.

Tubi is a free streaming service that is a by-product of YouTube and can also be downloaded if you have a Roku box. It can be viewed from your computer or smartphone and also comes readily available with certain smart televisions. Once you choose a movie or television show that you desire to see there is a special treat when it is over. Tubi will offer similar programming and you don't have to do a thing except cancel if not interested. I recently watched 5 different versions of A Christmas Carol one behind the other and also the movie Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus without lifting a finger.

Tubi TV: Old School Holiday classics

For the past few years, cable and network television seem to only offer Disney's A Christmas Carol and the same black and white version of the adaptation from the Charles Dickens novel. I did not even know that so many versions of this holiday classic had been made and was excited to view them all. I am presently watching The Nutcracker starring a young McCauley Calkin which I had not seen before. This is also one of my holiday favorites and used to air on CBS or PBS every Christmas morning but not anymore.

Baby boomers will find they can relive childhood memories as they watch the television shows and movies they grew up loving. It is important to me to be able to enjoy programming that I can watch with my grandchildren without being embarrassed by the language and Tubi gives me just that. I am really loving the old B movies from the 1950s and have had several marathons and all I have to do is provide the popcorn.

Baby Boomers: Something for the generation that never grew up

I find that as I watch these classics I feel so relaxed and far removed from the world as it is today. I can be in my own little personal zone where nothing can touch me. Tubi does also offer other types of programming but I am addressing baby boomers in this particular article. MeTV and other retro channels have opened a door for age 57 to 73 who long for the good old days. We may not be able to change the world around us or the type of programs that air on the majority of networks but Tubi gives us an option so we do not have to participate in watching R and X television shows and movies.

Tubi Tv: How it began

Tubi is an American "over-the-top content platform and ad-supported streaming service" which was launched on April 1, 2014. Tubi offers over 20,000 older Television shows and movies that can be viewed for free and the service claims to have a base of at least "25 million active monthly viewers".

The Fox Corporation purchased Tubi in March 2020 for $440 million. The funds came from the sale of the 5% interest that Fox owned in Roku. The free online streaming comes from a library of films and television series and is based in San Francisco, California. Now that Tubi has been acquired, Rupert Murdoch’s Television broadcasting and cable company has added a "dedicated streaming component to capture the rising internet-video tide."
