Therefore, he prepared for a long time in advance, consulted the materials of previous Winter Olympic Games, was familiar with events that had not been photographed before, including competition rules and strong athletes in various events, and read a large number of words and pictures. In terms of photographic equipment, this time he uses the Canon full-frame micro-single EOS R3, which can achieve high-speed continuous shooting of up to 30 frames per second, and the Sonny full-frame micro-single A1 camera. From his personal experience, a major feature of the shooting equipment for this year's Winter Olympic Games is that non-reflex micro-SLR cameras replace SLR cameras in a large area. In addition, "the Olympic Organizing Committee strictly stipulates that photographers can only shoot still images, and no one is allowed to shoot dynamic videos, so objectively speaking, we can be more focused on shooting, and there is no need for both sides to be distracted."

Chen Jian has worked in Beijing for more than 20 years and has been to Mohe, China's northernmost polar region, but Zhangjiakou is still colder than he expected. In order to shoot the women's U-shaped venue skills final at Chongli Yunding Ski Park in Zhangjiakou, he, like many photographers, took up a seat at the photography spot from 7 a.m. to the end of the game at nearly 12:00 at noon. Outside, where the body feels colder than minus 18 degrees Celsius, standing still for nearly five hours in the cold wind, his feet are numb and his hands are numb. "I photographed the jumping movements of two groups of contestants with the long head of A1. I should have taken 300 or 400 pictures, but I couldn't feel my hands, the voice of the non-reflective camera was already low, and I was wearing a cotton hat, and I couldn't hear the shutter sound at all. By the time I took the award, I pressed more than 100 pictures, and my hands were so cold that I couldn't control the shutter at all. "

The people's Illustrated has only one photojournalist. He is unable to separate himself, and the most difficult thing he has to do every day is to decide which venue to shoot. In addition to some long-distance events in Zhangjiakou, he will try his best to go. He keeps changing places in the morning, noon and evening. "one button and three couplets" is the normal and the highest workload as a photojournalist. Chen Jian's work focus is basically in the Beijing competition area, if you choose to go to Zhangjiakou or Yanqing shooting can only go back on the same day. "the race didn't end until 11:00 the night before. It was two o'clock in the morning when I got back to the hotel. Then I took a shower and got on the media bus. I arrived at the main media center at about 3:30 and waited for the earliest bus to Zhangjiakou at 5: 00 in the morning to prepare for shooting at 9:30 in the morning." Such a continuous state is still very challenging for reporters to meet the immediate needs of the people's Illustrated and its new media to send out an atlas of the Winter Olympic Games every day. "if there are gold medals or hot figures such as Gu Ailing and Yu Sheng Jiexian, we need to add another atlas." In addition, people's Pictorial also has the task of external publicity. In addition to paying attention to the Chinese team, athletes from Central and Eastern Europe and Central and South Asia should also pay attention to filming and sending articles to the outside world. Chen Jian said that the greatest charm of the Winter Olympic Games is actually in the snow sports, in the gymnasium and outdoors is still very different, the biggest regret may be that snow sports can not be taken by one person.

"because every game is important and you have to focus on shooting it, you will feel a little bit out of it, which is different from the mood of ordinary people watching the game," he said. We can't be too emotional, or it will affect our shooting. " The Winter Olympic Games is a big stage, and many moments are rare in daily life. "for example, figure skating is all top experts. You can try to use various shooting methods on a piece of white cloth, such as following, slow door, and multiple exposures." There may not be much opportunity to perform like this in ordinary life, and this Winter Olympic Games is a very good opportunity to try more. "

For photographers, the shooting location must be very important, just like looking at the photos taken by photographers of several major news agencies, their position is good, but their perspective is different from others. But Chen Jian believes that there is another factor that is equally important, and that is the word "persistence". "if there is any change and trend in sports photography, it is to pay more attention to detail and the expression of human feelings. The better pictures are often not in the best part of the event itself, but in some actions and details after the event. Photographers should always maintain their continuous focus after the best part of the event, their eyes can not leave the viewfinder, persistence is even more important than position. "
