Still Not Fixed - System Faults Since The Upgrade

Introduction

Before you think I am complaining (well, I am, but just about the state of Vocal), Vocal is without doubt the best publishing platform for writers and creators, allowing a mix of words and media to be published and shared almost immediately.

A few months ago, I said I reckoned I would never get another Top Story on Vocal, and people said, "Don't worry, you will get one soon". It is not coming, and it's not because my writing is rubbish, but I will elucidate my ideas further in this piece.

It is now two and a half months since the upgrade, and we are still plagued with issues and faults, and some paying users still can't get onto the system.

I documented the initial upgrade on my blog because I lost the ability to publish for a short time.

So Where Are We Now?

This was my last Top Story (24th June); it was before the upgrade, and I have a theory about why I am not getting Top Stories and why certain users still cannot access their Vocal profile.

Michelle Liew Tsui-Lin has been unable to publish or log in to her account since the upgrade.

I think there may be some user database corruption that is causing these issues., although I have appeared on the leaderboard a couple of times. However this is how Vocal tell us that Top Stories are picked so maybe the pickers just don't like me because I write pieces like this 😁.

Someone recently said that only good writers get Top Stories and Challenge Placements. Well that put me in my place didn't it? 😁

Also every user tells me I can subscribe to the user, even though I am subscribed to that user. I am subscribed to Annie Kapur because I see her stories in my feed (as well as chatting with her often).

If I wanted to Unsubscribe, that ioption has now gone because it would be where the Subscribe Button is.

Again this could be due to a database corruption issue, or a coding problem (probably the latter, otherwise our subscribed feed and notifictions would not work).

Another thing is the loss of direct image paste, every image now has to be uploaded using the really awkward image upload option. The cut and paste was a brilliant addition and I, for one would like to see it come back.

Anthere thing is the poetry option. It sdoes not allow you to include links which I wanted to do in my recent poem, so I had to do them outside of the poem.

Also in the poetry, while it keeps how we write, it does not have a justification option.

Oh, I am still awaiting a respose to the the email I sent about missing Ambassador payments and tips on 3rd July then followed up on 4th August and a few more times

Ignoring emails about system issues is not acceptable.

Conclusion

As I continually say and think, Vocal is by far the best writing and publishing platform, but I want it to be the best in every way for every member.

I included the Tina Turner song "Simply The Best" because, for me, that's what Vocal is, and it should be for everyone.

The fact that I have written this and in five minutes or so, it will be available to the whole world to read if they so wish, is a prime example of why I think as I do about Vocal.
