When we connected to servers that are far away, such as in America or Japan, we saw our download speed drop drastically and the ping increase. For example, an otherwise good VPN like IPVanish in Japan only achieved a download speed of 12.19 Mb/s.

We saw a sharp decline in download speed and a rise in ping when we connected to distant servers, such those in America or Japan. It should be noted that these speeds are still fast, especially when compared to those of competing VPNs. For instance, in Japan, an otherwise excellent VPN like IPVanish only managed a download speed of 12.19 Mb/s.
