Unlimited Robotics has announced the launch of its developer’s platform, named Ra-Ya, that makes it easier for any software engineer to build robotic applications even without prior experience in hard-coded environments. The hardware and software applications can be integrated into Gary, the company’s first service robot, that will be available for sale to consumers, businesses, and offices, starting from 2022.

“The process of programming a robotic application is challenging, and it is not that simple for most software developers. Unlimited Robotics is democratizing the way people can build applications for robots with the company’s groundbreaking technology. We are empowering software engineers who do not have prior experience in robot programming, especially if they have experience in JavaScript and Python, to actually create pragmatic solutions for people’s homes, businesses, and offices.” says Guy Altagar, the company’s CEO.

Gary is designed to perform any chore for home, business, and office environments. Gary can autonomously navigate and move in familiar and new places indoors, at a speed of up to 1.2m/sec (3.1 mph). It can also adapt to multiple types of terrains, such as grass, carpets, and tiles. The robot can hold up to 5 kg of payload with its 2 arms, each has different gripper to perform tasks such as grabbing, holding, and squeezing objects. Gary is also equipped with 3 different infrared and in-depth cameras that can help him to improve its performance due to the extremely high processor and AI capabilities.

“Usually, a standard robot or an electronic device can perform only one function. With our technology, we are bringing a new way to build several mechanical and operational applications - all in one device.” Guy Altagar states. “Imagine how much impact developers can now have on people’s lives and make them easier and better: We can bring great number of mechanical solutions through software for people with disabilities, young parents, hotel and restaurants owners, nurses and doctors and more. All of the solutions are integrated on one device, which makes it more effective and easier to operate”.

The beta version of Ra-Ya is free, and developers can integrate and offer their applications to Gary’s consumers or businesses, whether on a paid or free monthly subscriptions. Through their unique technology of interconnectivity among the robots in their network, “One robot teaches the other robots how to improve in their next task”, says Altagar. Gary the Robot will be available for sale at the beginning of 2022, and the company announces the opening of a waiting list, in which users will be able to save the right to get Gary first, for a one-time fee of $99. The company plans to sell Gary on a monthly subscription basis. The company decided to also accept Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Ethereum, making it the first in their industry to accept cryptocurrencies for their products.

About Unlimited Robotics:

The Israeli start-up, who I collabarate with, has 26 team members, most of them engineers and software developers, was founded by Guy Altagar, a serial entrepreneur with a vast experience in product marketing; Martin Gordon, the company’s Chief Product Officer, who has gained experience in software engineering in elite units in the Israeli Defence Forces; and Dr. Eli Kolberg, the company’s CTO, who until recently led the robotics department in Bar Ilan University. The company’s HQ are in Israel, and it has presence in California, Colombia, and Georgia. The company is funded by leading investors, among others, by Avishai Abrahamai, the CEO and founder of Wix.com (Nasdaq: WIX), who serves as a board member in the company.

About the robotics markets:

Most usage of robots is nowadays being made in logistics, warehouses, and factories. Only recently, Elon Musk has announced Tesla plans to release a Tesla Humanoid Robot and this move comes together with the sale of Boston Dynamics to Hyundai for $1.1 billion, mostly known for its robot dog – spot. The Unlimited Robotics team is optimistic as their open-source platform for any developer who has an idea to build an app on it, is a key factor to take their product to the next level in providing solutions for home and business owners, beyond dancing functions and impressive look.
