It was eighteen months after the Coronavirus impacted the world. At the Johnson’s home, Renee and her husband Cameron are preparing dinner for their kids. As they are preparing dinner Renee turns on the television to watch the news, the oldest daughter Mia says this depressing stuff again? How long are we going to have to stay in the house? Then Renee says they have a new vaccine coming out to cure it and it will allow us to go back to normal. So hopefully this will all be over soon. Yeah hopefully, Cameron stated, I miss the amusement parks and traveling, Mia you are old enough to ride roller coasters now and I know that you have been looking forward to that! Mia answered, yes and I want prom to be perfect. They focus on the television where they are talking about the vaccine, the first dosages will be out in two weeks. Everyone begins to celebrate! Renee looks puzzled, that’s not long enough to have a vaccine approved, she thought. While the children are celebrating she pulls Cameron into the other room. Babe, she starts, I’m really concerned about the side effects of the vaccine, it sounds rushed. People have different blood types and ailments that have to be compatible with the vaccine, that’s really fast honey. I don’t know you’re the one who is about to be the doctor, he stated, do you feel comfortable with us getting the shots. What could be the side effects, could they be worse than the virus? Because it is killing people. The kids get quiet when the President is speaking about the vaccine. He announces the date for the release of the vaccine, how many there are and who will get it first. Two of the vaccines have been approved by the FDA and one is still awaiting approval. The President then states that it is perfectly safe, just like the flu shot, and everyone should feel safe to take it. No need to panic everyone will get one. Renee then breaks the silence, alright everyone, I have to go to work, everyone sits down for dinner, I love you guys. She then kisses everyone goodbye and leaves.

It has been two months since the vaccine was released and things have calmed down for Renee at work until she gets an emergency call, that she’s needed at the hospital and she immediately runs out the door. When she arrives she puts on her protective gear and enters the Covid wing in the hospital. The hospital is flooded with angry staff and patients. One of the nurses is arguing with a patient and the patient strikes the nurse and they begin to fight and security rushes over. Renee then realizes that its her friend Joy and she helps her with a wound on her face. Oh my gosh what’s going on? I don’t know, Joy exclaimed, these people are going crazy and we are understaffed. Renee then asks, is there something going on at home because you haven’t been yourself lately. Joy then asks to speak to her alone. When she reaches a private room Joy stated that she hasn’t been feeling herself since she took the vaccine. Wow you took that shot, Renee asks, how do you feel? Well, I felt fatigued immediately after, and then after about three days I felt great, I was cooking, cleaning, and I felt like supermom! But now I can’t sit still and I don’t know what’s going on. You can’t work like this Joy, you just fought a patient, I am sending you home before you get us sued. You’re right Renee, I can’t afford to lose my job, can you make up an excuse for me? Of course, Renee exclaimed, just go home! Renee finishes her shift but was distracted all day after what Joy told her knowing that her mother got the vaccine already. So she calls her Mom to check on her and see how she’s feeling. She stated that she was ok and asked how the kids were. She told her that they were doing great and they would love to see her tonight at dinner. Her mother says well I have been vaccinated and I can finally get out of the house, so yes that would be great. They hang up and Renee heads home from work after her shift. She gets home and is greeted by the kids. She then checks on Cameron, who is working from home. I invited Mom over for dinner tonight she stated. He then says that I have been busy all day so I haven’t cooked anything, lets order out. Ok she answered, I really invited her over because I am concerned about her taking the vaccine. She then tells him what happened at work with her friend Joy, she wasn’t being herself. If Joy was acting violent should we be worried about your mom being around the kids he asked. She looked at him in shock and says, I can’t believe you just said that, can you order some Red Lobster for everyone, I know the kids love their alfredo and pizza. So Renee gets ready for dinner as Cameron orders the food. Meanwhile he is on the internet researching the effects of the vaccine on people, he read that some people were fatigued, had an adrenaline rush and some experienced uncontrollable rage. As they both read the article the doorbell rings. The kids run to the door and as they expected its their Nana. They greet her and ask her how she is feeling and how she has been since the pandemic. She answers I’ve been tired. Its probably because they injected you with the virus Nana, Mia stated, so your system can build immunity. The food arrives and they sit down to eat. After dinner, the kids head to bed while Cameron, Renee and Nana sit down with a glass of wine. Why don’t you stay the night Mom, Renee asks, you can sleep in the room with Mia? When she goes to the bedroom Mia asks, are we gonna see you more now that you got vaccinated? Of course dear, Nana exclaims, I have missed you guys so much. I missed you too Nana. Well Nana says, I have a gift for you, I didn’t want to give it to you in front of everyone, you’re about to be seventeen and have grown into a beautiful young woman. She reaches into her purse and pulls out a box. Mia lights up as she takes it, what this she asks? Open it! Mia opens it and it’s a necklace with a heart pendant. Oh my gosh Nana its so beautiful. She puts the necklace on Mia and states, if you ever miss Nana squeeze this pendant and close your eyes and know that Nana will always be there to protect you. They hug and then lay down and get some rest.

In the middle of the night Nana wakes feeling sick and rushes to the bathroom. She starts to vomit uncontrollably until she passes out. A few minutes pass and she wakes up full of uncontrollable rage and anger. Mia was half awake from the noise and asks her Nana if she is okay? Nana doesn’t reply and Mia doses back off to sleep. A few moments later she comes out of the bathroom and is about to attack the first thing she sees. She runs toward her granddaughter in a rage, as Mia rolls over she sees the pendant and stops her in her tracks. She then remembers her bond with her grandchild and fights the temptation, she then runs out of the house. When she gets outside she sees someone jogging and attacks them. Pounding them to a bloody pulp. But her rage doesn’t stop, her adrenaline is higher, she runs down the street looking for anything to kill. During the commotion Cameron wakes up and sees the front door wide open, Renee wakes up and looks for him. They bump into each other in the dark and she asks him what’s going on. He says I woke up to a loud noise and I grabbed the gun to check the house, nothing is out of place but the front door was open. Oh my gosh, she half yells as she goes to check on the kids herself. She then notices that her mother isn’t there. Cameron, mom is gone but her car is still parked outside. Renee goes and asks Mia if she saw her Nana leave. No ma’am I saw her in the bathroom and I went back to sleep. As Renee goes back downstairs, Cameron is coming in. She’s not out there. As they panic and start to look around the house the phone rings. Its her supervisor calling to let her know that Joy was missing, and her family is dead. In total shock she explains the situation to Cameron. They hang up and call 911 and they get a busy signal. Puzzled, confused and worried, Mia turns on the news. The reporter is stating that people are attacking and killing people. They are advising everyone to lock up their home and to stay indoors. Renee grabs the keys and goes to look for her mom. Cameron gives Renee the gun and tells her, I will go and look for her you stay here and don’t let anyone in. As he was leaving Renee asks him, what if the vaccine is doing all of this, what if Joy killed her family? Not being able to answer he starts for the door, before he leaves Mia gives him the heart shaped pendant and says this will protect you.

Cameron drives all day trying to find her but is troubled by the chaos in the streets. People are literally killing each other. After a few hours he heads home to check on his family believing that something horrible has happened to his wife’s mother. Two blocks before he gets home a woman runs to his car that resembles his mother-in-law. She yells something but he can’t understand her. He realizes it is her and stops the car, she runs at him and attacks him. As he struggles with her and notices how strong she is, she suddenly stops, giving him enough time to push her away and get in the car. He drives home panicking and fearing the danger he left his family in by themselves. He runs into the house and collapses once he sees everyone is ok. Close the door he yells. He’s bruised and bloody and they are concerned for his wellbeing. He tells the kids to go to their rooms. Renee yells what happened, what’s going on? He explains what’s going on outside, and she states yeah we have been watching the news. Then he explains that he found her mother and she did this to him, she almost killed me. I barely got away but for some reason she stopped attacking me. As Mia was eavesdropping, she walked down the stairs and she told him it was the necklace. He then takes it off and gives it back explaining that she needed it more than him and he didn’t know what he would do if something would happen to her or any of them. Then there was a pounding at the door and its Renee’s mother yelling Let me in. Renee goes to the door and looks out, she goes to open the door and Cameron yells its not your mother. But Renee already unlocked it. The door flies open and her mother runs in and attacks Cameron. Mia tries to stop her but she pushes her across the room and then is about to attack her but sees the necklace, as she stops Cameron shoots her in the head killing her instantly.
