How to Properly Manage a 6-Figure Facebook Group

Everything you should and should not do to keep the group happy

Facebook is the best social media platform to share ideas, connect, and grow as a person.

Ever since being a kid, I knew that Facebook was the place to be. It offers ways to connect with friends, keep up with people we care about, and to join Facebook group communities that match our interests.

If you’re in any massive Facebook group, remember that people run that group to make sure everything goes smoothly. It takes an entire team and lots of guidelines in place to successfully run a six-figure Facebook group.

Sharing my experience in the past six months in helping to manage a seismic Facebook group will help you grow and manage your own online communities.

About the Group I Manage

Robinhood Stock Traders is a group of over 154,000 members and climbing.

We help give traders a place to ask for advice, talk about stocks, gain inspiration, and enhance their knowledge.

It’s been around for a few years now and has thousands of loyal members, and tons of people have utilized the group to make money in the stock market together.

As someone who day-trades, this community is excellent for up-to-date alerts, signals, and heads up swing plays that make a profit.

Schedule Daily Posts

When you join any Facebook group, one of the first things you’re going to notice is what kind of posts are in the group.

If nothing is coming up at least daily, users won’t be inclined to join and stick around for long. When a moderator or admin posts daily discussion questions, people are more likely to interact.

You want to get people talking. That’s how they get true value out of the group. If they wanted information, they would’ve gone to YouTube or read an article about it. But they’re in a group. They should feel welcomed with open arms and inspiration.

Why daily posts work

Daily posts boost engagement because it gives people something to look forward to every day. I post a discussion question in the group every day at 6:30 a.m., two hours before the stock market opens.

It gets people talking and engaging with one another. This is how you can mold your group into a community that helps one another.

The earlier your group engages, the faster you grow, and the more people you can help.

Be Picky About Posts You Approve

Admins and mods don’t just approve any post that comes their way. Sometimes you get spam, sometimes you get irrelevant posts, and others aren’t even complete sentences.

You don’t want to waste anyone’s time with useless nonsense that has no purpose being there. It’s important to approve posts relevant to your group and provide value or entertainment to the person on the other side.

How to decide if a post is worth approving

I love to accept a good handful of success story posts, memes, and important news posts. All of them make our investing community a place to go to for knowledge and uplifting entertainment — all while making money.

If the post pertains to your community, then accept it! People love getting their posts approved because it shows them that they have a voice. Your members have a say, and the moderators are there to filter out the bad and illuminate the good.

Remove Scammers and Spammers

I can’t stress this one enough.

You need to take control of your group. Don’t frustrate your members by lacking the ability to get rid of scammers and spammers.

No one will come back to your group if there’s constant advertising or comments that get in the way of their experience.

It’s plain and simple, keep the group free of spam, no one will complain, and everyone will be happy.

Why a spam-free community works

If your community has no distractions, it will make the community a place to gather useful information. Zero tolerance to spammers sets our group apart from a lot of other stock trading communities.

Users who visit your page are more likely to stay if they get what they expect, nothing more, nothing less.

Interact With the Community

Run your group the right way by making time to interact with your community.

They’re seeking some credibility in the group, and who better than your humble admins?

Why an admin/moderator should interact in the group

They depend on you for some guidance or input in the group because of your status badge.

Be sure not to try to oversell your product to your group. They’ll easily get annoyed by it. Instead, focus on making small talk on the posts you see at any given time.

Even just a little interaction shows that there’s some control in the group and that the moderators aren’t just looking down at the group from above and not being part of it.

Managing a six-figure group only works if you have systems in place.

Talk to your team and see what works and what doesn’t. Have conversations about what types of posts would boost engagement within the community.

Remember the following:

Schedule posts often so your members have some continuity and something they can look forward to.

Be very picky about the posts you approve of so that the focus stays on a topic pertaining to your group’s niche.

Remove scammers and bots as soon as possible to avoid your members getting frustrated and bombarded by nonsense.

Interact with the community you’re building. Everyone wants to be acknowledged, and it’s reassuring to see an admin or moderator communicating.

Treat your group the way you’d want to be treated, and only until then will it become a community.
