Apple has just officially unveiled the iPhone 12. Last month, Samsung took the wraps off its latest Galaxy phone - the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.

It has renewed interests between Apple and Samsung fans. I gained additional insight and learned much more than expected from the Apple and Samsung fan war in the comments section on Facebook.

How Samsung Fans Spoke Highly Of The Galaxy S20 FE

What’s the most important thing for me? I look at the screen size (the part you use 100% of the time) followed by battery and storage.

The Galaxy S20 FE has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display size compared to the iPhone 12’s 6.1-inch OLED display.

The Galaxy S20 FE only has one storage size — 128GB storage. The Apple iPhone 12 comes in three storage sizes: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The Galaxy S20 FE’s memory can be expanded via memory card while the iPhone’s cannot.

Tight on a budget? The iPhone 12 is not even on my radar as it's completely blown out of the water here. The Galaxy S20 FE only has one size — 128GB — at $699 only. In comparison, Apple’s iPhone 12 128GB costs $879. The latter costs $180 more.

Instead of comparing both Samsung and Apple against each other; I’ll rather compare a Nokia with an iPhone. Furthermore, Samsung builds some of the most important features for the iPhone. Samsung is just too good to compare with, so Samsung wins either way.

How Apple Fans Attacked The Galaxy S20 FE

The finishing touch of the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is a nice dollop of insane bloatware. There is no way I would ever go back to Samsung. I’ve had four different Samsung models and they were the same thing every time.

So much software trying to make a Samsung pretty and the battery couldn’t withstand the load. No matter how good the statistics are, a Samsung smartphone will still start to lag after a couple of months.

Why would Samsung use a lower megapixel count on the telephoto? Doesn’t make any sense, especially since that’s the lens you will use to zoom in on everything. Plus a true telephoto does not lose picture quality when zooming in. You only lose quality with digital zoom.

32-megapixels on the front camera? Are they high?

The iPhone 12 has a resolution of 2532 x 1170, compared to the Galaxy S20 FE's 2400 x 1080 resolution. The iPhone 12's resolution is higher. Even the iPhone 12 weighs 26 grams lighter.

How the Apple Fans Defended Themselves

To add some sarcasm, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is the S20 Fun Edition, the cheaper S20.

The iPhone 12 will last longer and receive more updates while the Galaxy S20 FE will be forgotten by next year and will lose its value.

Operating System

Taking the hardware out of the argument, the optimization of iOS is far superior to Android. It is all about the ecosystem and the operating system. Android is only popular and massive. iOS is better, friendly, and supports all your needs for any circumstances.

Furthermore, Apple develops the software, Samsung relies on Android-based OS.

Comparing the iPhone 12 to the Samsung S20, the iPhone is way better. I have used both Android and iOS but prefer the iPhone since it is way smoother and more secure as one can compromise on camera.

Megapixels

Even though iPhones’ cameras are not as big as Samsung cameras; iPhones’ photos still look good. The iPhone is still significantly better for photography and especially light handling.

A higher megapixel count doesn’t necessarily mean better image quality. Samsung can include a 32-megapixel camera in their phones but people don’t have the display capable of showing a 32-megapixel image. You’d need an 8K display to show a 32-megapixel image. That’s why smartphone cameras have hovered around 12-megapixels for a decade because 12-megapixels equates to 4K capability.

Another actual reason most phones do not have higher pixels is due to low light photography. Fewer pixels means it is easier to pull in light. But the latest smartphones have had better technology to pull in more light.

Higher megapixels also allows you to zoom into your photo and crop comfortably, while still maintaining at the higher resolution. Many people have 4K-ability displays and not 8K displays.

How the Samsung Fans Struck Back

You can’t customize an iPhone like you can with an Android. For argument's sake in the past, you couldn’t download things on IOS except through iTunes, and Bluetooth was restricted to connection only. I couldn’t send music or other files to other people using Bluetooth but through Android, I could.

Android now lets you play your Xbox games on your phone. Sadly it’s not available on iPhone yet. For this reason, Samsung wins.

I currently have a Galaxy S10+ and won’t be looking to upgrade anytime soon as the cost isn’t worth the small upgrades. I usually wait for one or two generations of smartphone release before I upgrade. For me, it's an Android device every time, simply because they’re often cheaper and get more bang for your bucks.

Smartphone Neutral Comments

In a nutshell, both iPhone and Galaxy phones are high-end smartphones that push the limits. They are both great lines of phones. They both are pretty much neck-and-neck every year.

Both the Galaxy S20 FE and iPhone 12 supports wireless charging and 5G connectivity.

I agree that it’s not just about the specifications, but I also tire of the battle that one is better than the other. They both have their merits and it comes down to personal and user preferences. I have my preferences but I also respect what other competitive brands can and have done, innovation-wise.

It has come to a point whereby this comparison and “which-one-is-better phone” is so tiring. You see, I buy a smartphone because that’s what I want and it suits my needs. It may not be the best in the market or packed with the latest and greatest tech, but I’m comfortable using it and that’s what matters.

Both Samsung Galaxys and Apple iPhones always compete and compare on the camera. I don’t care about the camera anymore. What matters to me is the processor, video quality, motion, hertz, fast charging, support, security, software updates, smoothness, graphics, and no lagging or hanging. Basically everything except the camera.

It doesn’t matter, you’ll be using messaging apps, email, and social media. The difference is how long the software update lasts. Can the software update still maintain the software’s stability?

The question is “What’s the point in all this?” After reading the comments, I still can’t afford anyone of them. I’m just here to watch Apple and Samsung users trash on each other.
