What is Hostinger?

Hostinger is a tiny, employee-owned web-hosting business that was established in Lithuania in 2004. They do, however, provide worldwide coverage, hosting 29 million websites in 178 nations.

Initially, they provided site hosting that was totally free. Although that is no longer the case, they nevertheless take pleasure in offering excellent websites at competitive prices with robust functionality.

In this study, we'll examine their shared hosting plans in detail. We'll also quickly review some of their other hosting plans, though.

Price disclosure

Although in such a cutthroat industry outrageous introductory pricing is unavoidable (and does have the benefit of letting you test a product cheaply), I expect the hosting provider to be open and honest about the price rises on renewal before I click "buy".

The following applies to their pricing/purchase pages:

Next to the introductory price is a clear display (and explanation) of the renewal price.

It is also prominently indicated (and modifiable) how long you must commit to to receive those promotional discounts (one year, two years, etc.).

Just below the introductory costs, Hostinger does prominently mention the renewal prices:

The renewal costs at Hostinger are explicitly marked.

So I give that a big thumbs up!

The only introductory prices, meanwhile, are the ones you receive if you pay 24 months in advance; nevertheless, nowhere does it say that they require a 24-month commitment.

Once you've added the plan to your basket, you'll only be able to see the two (more costly) intro prices (for 12 and 1-month periods), and on the following page, the 48-month plan is really the one that is defaulted to

Is it simple to utilize Hostinger hosting?

You probably won't spend a lot of time tinkering with your hosting company's control panel once everything is set up. at the very least to begin with.

When you do, it's crucial that everything is quick and simple to use.

The control panel from Hostinger is simple to use and rather quick.

Instead of the conventional cPanel, Hostinger uses its own unique "hPanel" to manage the backend.

It has a simple, contemporary style, is intuitively organized, everything is explained, and it's rather quick (but not quite as quick as the DreamHost control panel).

Additionally, it allows you full control over every function that comes with Hostinger's web hosting. What this means is:

Features of hostinger's Shared Hosting

The fact that Hostinger's shared hosting plans are still crammed with features despite the incredibly low rates is one of the things I like most about them. These consist of:

  • One-click software installation with a free SSL certificate (for WordPress, for example)
  • tools for importing websites from different hosts
  • Tools for switching your website's platform
  • Several server locations are available.
  • administration of DNS
  • Accounts for FTP
  • tools for testing page speed
  • Areas for staging (only available with Premium and Business plans)
  • 24/7 Live chat assistance
  • Their use of their personal Hostinger website builder

A couple of things, though, that I would want to see are either absent altogether or only available in the lower-tier subscriptions. These consist of:

  • The first-year free domain name (only available with Premium and Business subscriptions)
  • Auto-daily backups (only available with the Business plan)
  • Stages (only applicable to the business strategy)
  • Guaranteed uptime of greater than 99.90% (more on this below)

Features of Hostinger vs. Other Providers

Hostinger performs admirably when measured against companies with comparable prices (Namecheap and DreamHost). When compared to Namecheap, Hostinger offers a ton more services.

Even though DreamHost offers slightly more features than Hostinger (more databases, more subdomains, more FTP accounts, and more storage on the higher plan), the majority of these features won't actually matter to most users.

However, some people will! For instance:

For the first year, DreamHost provides a free domain name (thereafter, there is a fee). Additionally, all of their services include free automated daily backups and a 100% uptime guarantee. The majority of users, in my opinion, will benefit from these extra features.

On the other hand, Hostinger offers several helpful features that DreamHost does not, such as free email and GIT access. Maybe GIT is a little specialized.

However, the Hostinger plans are typically $1–$2 less expensive than the DreamHost plans!

Is Hostinger a quick web host?

Hostinger's web hosting is indeed fairly quick. When we compared Hostinger to 14 other service providers this year to determine who was the fastest web host, you can see that it did reasonably well from the graph below:

LiteSpeed servers, known for their quickness and effectiveness, are used by Hostinger. Additionally, each subscription includes the LiteSpeed caching WordPress plugin, which will speed up your website even more.

Although there are actions you can do to speed up WordPress and remedy a slow website, your web host's speed is the main factor in how quickly your website loads.

And I must say that Hostinger's speeds absolutely impress me. especially in light of how affordable their plans are. In the current

Naturally, there are a lot of other things to think about, thus there are a lot of other reasons you might pick these providers over Hostinger. However, this pace is still outstanding!

Is Hostinger a trustworthy web host?

We gauge dependability in terms of "uptime": the proportion of time a website is operational. Although it can seem like there is little difference between 100% and 99.90% uptime:

  • Reliable = 100 - 99.98% Uptime
  • OK for uptime of 99.97 - 99.95%
  • Unreliable if uptime is lower than 99.95%

In this year's tests, we discovered Hostinger's uptime to be acceptable, as you can see in the chart below.

It's worth noting that Hostinger guarantees 99.90% uptime on all of their plans. This means that if your website's uptime goes below that threshold in a given month, they will credit you 5% of your monthly hosting charges to spend on other Hostinger products and services.

As we all know, 99.90 is a relatively low bar, so ensuring your uptime remains over that level is not that amazing. And, in my perspective, a 5% credit note isn't either if it doesn't!

In comparison, DreamHost provides a 100% uptime guarantee and a 10% credit note if it is not satisfied. Or Namecheap, which promises 99.90 - 99.99% uptime (depending on the plan) and a one-day service refund for every hour your server is offline.

If Hostinger's latest uptime stats are constant, they should be able to equal (or even outperform) their competitors' claims. They can perform better here!

Customer Service at Hostinger

You don't need customer service unless you need it. But when you do, you're going to need it!

This means that it should be obvious how to contact someone, you shouldn't have to wait long if you try to contact them, and they should be informed and helpful while dealing with you.

All of these factors are critical for providing excellent customer service.

Hostinger provides live chat and email assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They, like other web hosts, want to ensure that if you can't find an answer in their knowledge base, you contact a live person.

They recommend that you first search the knowledge base before contacting them.

So, before you can email or chat with someone, you're taken through a few probable problems and answers in their knowledge base, which appears to be rather extensive and well-presented.

However, this minor deviation isn't as bothersome as it is with many other providers. With a few mouse clicks, you're in a chat window on an email form, ready to contact a live person.

There was never an agent available instantly for live chat (as you would expect from the very best suppliers). They claim that the typical wait time is less than ten minutes, and I never had to wait longer than a couple of minutes, so that's very decent!

I never had to wait more than a few minutes to speak with a support representative.

I always found the support employees to be very knowledgable and helpful, and I was able to resolve my concerns rather fast.

When should you utilize Hostinger?

If you're on a tight budget, Hostinger is an excellent option. Only Namecheap is less expensive (on renewal) than the other web providers we've reviewed, and as we'll see below, Namecheap has its own set of limitations.

So I would absolutely recommend Hostinger for tiny, personal projects if you want to dabble in website building without spending too much money.

And as you progress, you can be confident that Hostinger has all of the functionality you require for more complex development.
