Film has had a long history since the beginning of time. Film has always been used as a form of entertainment. Film involved acting and scenery. Films from back in the day were entirely different from modern films today. The first film came out in 1894 and was in Indiana. Someone named Charles Francis Jenkins had a unique invention called the Phantoscope. This film was short and had no sound. 1902

In 1902 the first full-time cinema was fully operational in Los Angeles. The films were mostly short and had no sound. Films back in the day were short and had no sound. That's just how films were back then. In 1905 the first Nickelodeon opened in Pittsburgh, PA. It was a gradual process and transition to today's films. There was a change pertaining to films in terms of production, sound, images, acting, etc.

In 1927 a singer named Jazz Singer was the first to have dialogue in a film. It changed the film industry for good. It was never the same again because it meant silent films were transitioning into films of dialogue. In 1933 it was very epic. Another game changer occurred. The first drive-in movie theater opened n New Jersey. People were actually able to sit in their cars and watch films. It was extraordinary for them at that particular point in time.

In 1999 the very first digital projectors were transparent to the public. The use of reels of film needed to show a movie at the theaters was done away with. They became mediocre and outdated. It was time to go out with the old and in with the new, so to speak. Film definitely experienced an evolution over many decades. It took time for progression to take place. Film was definitely a work in progress.

The history of film goes a long way towards showing how much effort was put into it. It didn’t just evolve overnight, but took hundreds of years. It has now become so modernized that one can’t possibly imagine it being in the early stages that it was in. It has truly developed. Now we can do nothing but appreciate the good works of the individuals that advanced the filmmaking industry. They needed to be commemorated always. Their level of expertise is undoubtedly an amazing phenomenon. I personally can’t wrap my head around it.

We must cherish their hard work and impact on film. Film has gone way up in the ranks. Film is global and a form of entertainment that has come to stay. Everything from going to the movies, whether it be what you call a movie theater or cinema, it has become part of our lifestyle. It’s tradition to go watch a movie while eating popcorn. It’s tradition to go with someone on a date to the movies as a way of having a good time. It’s a way to unwind and enjoy yourself.

Now you can even watch film from the comfort of your home on platforms such as Netflix, Tubi, YouTube, Amazon Prime, etc. Having a Netflix subscription in particular is seen as a damn near must have. You can watch exclusive movies there that you can’t watch on any other platform. Film has become part of our everyday lives. Netflix has become an in-home movie theater or cinema. Buying tickets at the movies has become old school, but is traditional and can’t be done away with. You can now buy tickets to the movies on an app on your phone out of convenience. Cheers to the progression of film.
