Get Your Website To The First Page On Google
White Hat SEO Strategies In 2022
Ranking on Google can be a time-consuming job, especially for those new to SEO. I remember when I first started my website...
I'm just writing content in the hope that someone can find it on Google. At that time, no one did. My content is completely unable to rank to page 1 for keywords. It's a real struggle...
Until I discovered some simple white hat SEO ranking techniques that I've been using ever since.
Today, I will share these strategies with you.
1. Optimize your page title and description
One of the most overlooked on-page SEO factors on an SEO website is the [page title] and [page description].
These meta tags are one of the first things Google sees when crawling a site. This is the ideal place to add your keywords.
Page Title
Every page on your website should have a unique purpose.
For example, a dentist's homepage should include a header that includes this is a local business and what the business is.
You'd be surprised how many businesses mark their homepage title as the default "Homepage." This gives zero confidence to search engines that this is actually a site for local dentists.
A better page title might be "Colorado Springs Best Dentist | Acme Dentist Services". Give your pages a more descriptive title that can take advantage of search results for the following terms:
- Colorado Springs Dentists
- Best Dentist Colorado Springs
- Acme Dental Services (for those searching by brand)
- Best Dentists in Colorado Springs
A more convincing story title than a dentist.
Title Modifier
Another white hat SEO approach is to include the following modifiers in the title:
- Numbers: such as 5 items, 6 strokes, 17 ways
- Years: 2021, 2022
- Word: Free, Guide, Simple, Step-by-Step
By including this meta title hack, you will definitely increase your CTR, which will be rewarded with Google's latest Rankbrain algorithm update.
Page Description
While ranking isn't as important as the page title, the page description is about getting people to click on your listing versus the other 9 results on the page.
Also known as CTR, you want your description (now up to 320 characters) to drive as many clicks as possible to your website.
What differentiates you from your competitors and how do you stand out?
First, you want to be honest about what your website is about. You should not present your listing in a grey hat manner.
Doing so creates distrust among users, and they end up going straight back to search results, causing them to have a high bounce rate.
A high bounce rate indicates that Google will deem your site unworthy of consideration for results, and with the introduction of RankBrain, an artificial intelligence search bot, Google will take notice and rank your site down. website to the first
Your description should be a quick, well-written overview of the content of the page. The title is the enticing and promotional text that leads to what the person is searching for.
It's a great place to add keywords people will usually find you. Searchers know exactly what they want based on the keywords they type into Google. Your description should be consistent.
Where to find inspiration for SEO titles and SEO descriptions
You can find a great place for Google headline ideas on ads that appear at the top of search results.
These ads have been tested and tested for optimal conversions, so you can incorporate some of these words into your page titles and descriptions.
2. Have a short URL
Permalink structure (aka permalinks) basically refers to how a URL reads a post or page in your browser's address bar.
It's the perfect place to add keywords to the mix and believe it or not, that's what Google's web crawler can help you rank for.
Several studies have confirmed that shorter URLs tend to be more effective than longer URLs.
When creating a web page URL, keep the following in mind
- Keep them clean and short
- Merge keywords
- Use only hyphens "-" to separate words
Examples of good URL structures:
- https://website.com/affordable-day-care
Examples of bad URL structures:
Do you understand it……
The idea is to integrate keyword-rich "tell" terms covering what the site contains and is about.
Usually, up to 3-4 words should do the trick. (i.e. the URL for this page is /white-hat-SEO-techniques)
To change permalinks on WordPress, go to Settings > Permalinks.
3. Correct use of HTML headers
The title is basically that. The title or lead of the article or content. I'm referring to the HTML code: H1, H2, etc. lead-out paragraphs in the content. Google thinks these are important. You should too.
H1 day
From H1 onwards, their rules are simple. These pressures are the same as other headlines, the main "page theme" and Google to take appropriate action.
You should only use one H1 tag per page as this is the main heading and when used more confuses search engines and devalues your rankings.
H2 tag
H2 should be similar to H1. Good place for keywords, but a good practice is to base it on the subtopic of the page.
For example, if your page is about dentists, a good H2 tag could be about one of the services the dentist provides (i.e. cavity cleaning), followed by something about the H2 tag.
Pro-tip for the WordPress WYSIWYG editor: you can select the words you want to use with H2 tags and press ctrl+alt+2 to make them into H2.
H3 tags
Similar to H2 but less important. These should be used as subtopics within H2 tags, but are not always necessary.
By incorporating these tags into your web pages, you can enhance all of your site's content. Read More
