Acer Spin 311 is the company’s new 2-in-1 convertible laptop that offers decent features at a price tag of $414.

Should you consider buying it in 2020? Is it the best laptop for collgege? Find out!

First look:

On the first look Spin 311 feels fantastic, the plastic finish is smooth and polished.

Also, the laptop is smaller than an A4 sized paper. When I picked it up it felt comapct, lightweight, and polished.

Unboxing:

Acer Chromebook Spin 311 comes packed within a typical cardboard box.

Inside the box, you will get our friend bubble wrapped, then a USB type-C power brick, and some user manuals (which people seldom read)

Design and build quality:

The whole body of this notebook is all non-slip plastic, but the premium one., on the lid’s left side there is an Acer logo in silver, and a google chrome logo.

The build quality is decent and sturdy.

There is only a minimal screen flex due to the antimicrobial corning gorilla glass as the screen protector.

The bezels are bigger but that doen't matter as the chromebook is so small and compact.

From inside, this notebook feels really smooth and polished with almost no bending.

On the bottom, there are 4 rubber squares to prevent the notebook from slipping.

Keyboard and tracking:

The placement of the keyboard is a little bit higher, but again I will say it is a really compact touchscreen laptop.

There is no keyboard flex, the build is impressively sturdy.

Due to the lack of “windows” and “fn” keys, the “control” and “alt” keys are now prominent and bigger.

A google search button has replaced the “capslock” button.

The arrow keys are placed on the bottom left of the keyboard, they provide relatively clicky feedback.

As for the trackpad, you will find it pretty cool and responsive if you are familiar with Chromebooks.

However, if you are not, then you will have some difficulty. in using it as the trackpad is customized to be productive.

Ports:

On the right side, you will get a USB Type-C (3.1) port for data transfer, charging, and display share, then a USB Type-A (1st gen) port.

Then a MicroSD card reader, and last our beloved 3.5mm headphone/earphone jack.

On the left side, you will see a Kensington lock for security-minded customers, again a Type-C and A port for charging and data transfer.

In the end, you will get a volume rocker that is protruding from the side for a better feel.

Display:

The Acer chromebok spin 311 features an 11.6-inch screen with antimicrobial corning gorilla glass protection and large bezels.

It features an IPS panel with HD (1366x768) resolution.

We measured 211 nits of brightness in the middle of the display and 214 nits across the display panel.

The color quality of the display is sharp,punchy, and true to life. according to "TechnoHub's review" they tested the display color quality by running the trailer of the movie "bumblebee" because of its dark brown color contrast.

Because majority of the budget range displays suffer in dark colors

You can also check a display quality of any laptop by running movies or other type of videos of two types

1/. movies with dark color contrast scenes

2/. movies with explosion scenes

If your laptop can't show explosion scenes properly, means it cannot show orange flames correctly, then know exctly that your laptop suffers display quality.
