You Say You Love Me

Right Person Wrong Timing

You say you love me.

I’m moving away. Far away.

We don’t live in the same country, but it feels like your presence has tainted mine. The air, the place, the feel—it haunts me.

I’m moving far away, to a place I know you can never find me. I don’t want this kind of love—love that hurts.

You say you love me, but she lies on your chest at night, feels your warm body, and kisses your lips—the ones meant for only me to feel.

She strokes your hair and gets to see your smile, while I watch from a distance. And still, you say you love me.

I’m walking away, because it hurts more to stay: the lies, the hurt, the cheating.

Dishonesty on you is like a cape, and I don’t think you will ever drop it. I don’t even like capes.

You say you love me.
