King Charles will be given in core annual funding to carry out official duties and maintain royal palaces after he “significantly increased” his number of engagements, a Treasury minister said.

Minister Dan Tomlinson explained that Queen Elizabeth II had not been carrying out a large number of her foreign engagements or state visits towards the end of her reign, so expenditure on public duties has now increased.
