Do ever want to just untie yourself from your life? Wander off into the woods and leave all your commitments behind, to live a life of sustenance and survival.
Sometimes I get fed up with life. Mostly the 9-5 workday grind, to be fair. I resent how much of my energy it saps. I need to work to get paid, so I can buy food and have a roof over my head. But I want to be creating art and consuming art and spending time with the people I care about.
I envy people who are passionate about their work. Who would be doing it anyway, even if they didn't get paid.
I wish I could make a living from my art, but I know that's an unrealistic goal. I would have to actually finish writing a novel to become a published author, and even then, being published does not equate to making money. I can keep making my embroidery art, but no one make a living just from making embroidery. They make money from running classes and online courses or commissions.
I have to embrace the fact that my art will always just be for the love of the game. And make peace with working a 9-5 job to support that. The best I can hope for is to have a 9-5 that at least doesn't drain my soul. That leaves me with enough capacity that I can still create in my non-working hours.
Let's not even get into other life maintenance, like cleaning and feeding youself that also cuts into creativity time. Sometimes I just feel like it's a losing fight.
