Trip to Nuwaraeliya

Many Sri Lankan choose Nuwaraeliya to spend their vacation because of the climate and to relieve from the stress. There are lots of places to visit in Nuwaraeliya.

We planned to go to Nuwaraeliya during the summer vacation. It is easy to find a rent car during summer holidays because most Sri Lankans don’t have school holidays during summer.

We started our trip early in the morning. It was so exited for me and my sons to go to the coolest City in Sri lanka. First we went to Aberdeen waterfalls after stepping down for about 1 kilometers. Its was amazing. We stayed there for a long, captured some pictures and stepped up to start our journey again.

It was really hard to walk with children. But we reached our vehicle as fast as we can. We had some fresh juice and started the journey again. On the way we saw Maskeliya, which has a wheel of a plane which fallen down in Maskeliya. And then Devorn waterfalls which has a superb view.

We reached Nuwaraeliya, went to the apartment which we booked earlier and got ready to go out. We didn’t feel any tried when we are feeling that cool climate.

We went to race course, ridden on a horse. There were loads of horses which use for horse race. And then went to Victoria botanical garden. It was such a beautiful park full of flowers. It took a long time for us to walk around the garden because we stopped at many places to take pictures.

Then we went to Gregory park and had some hot drinks. There were Boat rides, horse rides and a carnival too. We went to pizza hut for our dinner. Waited for a long till our order is ready. After dinner we went to Food city to buy some stuffs to make the breakfast and went to the room. It was our first day.

Second day our apartment is surrounded by the mist early in the morning. We made our breakfast and got ready to go out after having the breakfast. Started the way to strawberry farm. There were lots of harvest. But they are not allowed to pick the strawberries. We had yummy strawberry smoothies and ice creams. We bought some packs of strawberries to share with the family.

Then Newzealand farm to see some farm animals and the way they milk the cows. There were large number of cows in a row. They were milked by machines. Farm uses these milk to make yogurt,cheese and fresh milk.

On the way back to Nuwaraeliya town we bought some fresh vegetables to take them home. We eat the carrots, cucumbers. They were so yummy.

It was too late when having our lunch and after lunch we went again to Gregory lake to spend some time there. We let our children play and enjoyed having some chats. Bought some hot hot potato chips and ate. Then went back to the apartment after having our dinner.

It was the end of another successful day.

We slept too much on the third day as we didn’t have planned on that day. After having our breakfast we wanted to go to damro tea, to have a special cup of tea. It was very far from our apartment. We stopped at a tea garden to take some photographs.

Damro tea factory is very big and has a nice view. We had a best tea with a piece of chocolate cake. There are many flavors of tea which you can choose.

After that we went to ramboda waterfalls. Water was so cold there. It was so exited for us to climb up on a rock to take pictures. We enjoyed that.

After that Hakgala botanical garden ,biggest botanical garden in nuwaraeliya. Variety of flowers, variety of trees and many herbal plants were there too. It was dark when we we’re coming out from halgala. Then went back to the room to have some rest. Third day was so tired. But everyday was a memorable day for us.

Fourth day was our last day in nuwaraeliya. We said bye to all the cleaners and owners of the apartment and faced to Ella. On our way we wanted to see Adisham bungalow too.

The way to Adisham was curvy. Children started to vomit. It was very tough to handle vomiting children. Finally we arrived the destination. It was a big bungalow and calm environment to spend some days. We stayed there for about 30 minutes and headed to Ella.

Ella is a city full of tourists. There are many adventures and beautiful places. Such as Nine-arch bridge, Ravana pool club, Ella swing, Flying ravana and little adam’s peak.

First we went to nine arches. The way to nine arches is very tough. But the creation is so beautiful. We waited for the train. Everyone waited to see how a train goes in nine arches. We could saw that too. After drinking king coconuts we headed to Ravana pool club. Which has a club with a pool. It is fully crowded. Ella swing is next to Ravana pool club.

We had to fill our details to go on the swing. After filling we paid them and they gave a bangle for us to show that we are ready to swing. Then operators put us the safety jackets and tightened us on the swing. Hurrah we started swinging. It was a great experience.

We started our way back to home as we didn’t have enough time to go to Flying ravana and little adam’s peak. It is so sad that our journey is going to be finished. So enjoyable days. We were so hungry at the moment and was seeking for a restaurant. Finally we found a restaurant to eat rice and curry.

On our way to Galle near mattala highway we saw an elephant crossing a road. Our sons started shouting. It was little far from our vehicle. We waited until it crossed the road and then we started to drive again. We entered the highway and reached home safely after traveling for about 5 hours.

It was a superb trip for us to talk for years.

Not only Nuwaraeliya there lots of beautiful places in Sri Lanka to visit. Try to visit Sri Lanka one day. You will love it.
