We all love a dragon. They are part of popular culture from how to train yours to the one belonging to Pete. They’re the stuff of childhood fantasy and adulthood musing. Talking of which, check out this masterful tale by L.C. Schäfer, if you haven’t already:

Dragons are part of the fantasy realm and we just can’t get enough of them. Living, breathing Firey creatures who are either woefully misunderstood or delightfully charming, dragons have a special place in the literary and film culture.

Indeed, the allure of dragons transcends age and era, time and space; enchanting our imaginations with an elegance and majesty that few other mythical creatures can proclaim. From the ancient scrolls of Eastern mythology to the high-stakes drama of Western fantasy epics, dragons captivate us with their paradoxical nature—simultaneously embodying wisdom and wildness, ferocity and benevolence. A true metaphor for the human psyche if there was ever one ready for the toking.

The Year of the Wood Dragon begins on February 10, a year that promises to be replete with dragon lore. So let us embrace the spirit of the wood dragon. Whether through the written word, the silver screen, or the vivid landscapes of our own imaginations, dragons continue to offer us an escape into worlds unbound by the mundane, urging us to soar on wings of wonder and possibility.

As the wood dragon takes center sky, we are reminded of the deep-rooted connection between these magnificent creatures and the natural world. The wood element brings with it a sense of growth, renewal, and the inexorable push towards a future where dragons do not simply exist in the realm of fantasy, but serve as powerful symbols for our aspirations, challenges, hopes and dreams. Whatever this year brings us, we can only hope that it contains learning and growth in whatever way each of us needs.

ViM kicked off our Facebook debut with our, ‘The Dragon in Me" challenge which sought to bring to the forefront the fire with in each of us. Basically the idea was for creator's to write about their inner spirit. There was a whole lot of unleashing!

And as the year continues, the dragon will not be confined, we fully intend to bring the flames into the foreground (Watch this space).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You’re a Dragon, and of all the signs only a Dragon can tame the fates. Only a Dragon can wear the horns of destiny, duty, and power."-- Lisa See
"When the Dragon acts in accord with the Way nothing can withstand him. When the Dragon is in conflict with the Way disaster swiftly follows." -- Nigel Suckling
