The Untold Story Of Sid A Hirji
Posthumous challenge
Sid Aaron Hirji's life was like a fable. It had some horrendous things in it, but like a fable it was filled with wondrous stuff too. Some things in his life were outrageous. For example, he could stare at a wall without being bored, just thinking about a random topic. Generally that topic would bridge to another topic and he would form a tangible way to go from topic to topic then to the original thought.
Sid was not a neurotypical individual. He found comfort in many ways. He was most at comfort with his prized possession-his stuffed animal-Renard. He often referred to Renard not as a toy but as his husband. He had dated in the past but realized that he enjoyed his solitary time more. There was a strange thing that he often did. He would reread the same books over or watch the same shows and movies over again. He was most energized by sad music and depressing lyrics. He was also a closet gamer-but played a game that allowed him to multitask. He usually ate the same foods, not just because of limitted cooking skills, but also preferred routine.
As for routine, one may describe Sid as a person who became an old man at age 6. That was when he started following a routine. He would wake up, go to school, do homework, eat, read then sleep and repeat. On weekends at that time he would have swim lessons-yet hardly time for fun or friends. As for friends, due to his oddities, he actually went without friends till he turned 20 and started working a regular job.
His best friend came from that job. This friend, Tyler has often said that Sid was misunderstood by some as overly obedient or high energy, when he was the opposite. The ailment that lead to his death-Kidney Failure-actually caused him extreme fatigue. One would never know due to his high functioning anxiety and Complex PTSD. You may say, he pushed himself to points of exhaustion. As for obedience, he just avoided conflict. His calm demeanor did not often last. He had a long history of unresolved trauma leading to anger and dysregulated emotions.
Sid was from Canada. Initially in his younger years that country seemed ideal. Economy was booming, universal healthcare was keeping costs down and then around 2015, bad governments changed all that. Homelessness went rampant, the country became overpopulated and the neighbors to the south kept electing senile people. Sid was very passionate about politics as he had been exposed to it at the tender age of 8. He only spoke about it to some as his opinions could escalate. He was mostly libertarian but had extreme views on crime and substance abuse in public.
Sid had worked in many workplaces and the one thing many coworkers said was-they would never be able to tell he had social anxiety. He often arrived over an hour early because he needed to get accustomed to a large place. He had to ease into a place with many people. He disliked crowds but would immerse himself in them. He avoided loud noises but even though they irritated him, he hid those feelings.
Perhaps an interesting bit about him was his comparison to Robin Hood. He had morals but believed in justice. If someone wronged him, he felt that they should be wronged back. He didn't often act on it but the fact that he perceived fairness over greatness does speak volumes. He had no issue with people who amassed a fortune provided they were not arrogant. He wasn't shy to tell a cashier who asked if he wanted to donate that the starving kids and companies that could benefit would not exist if we had no oligopolies. While he hated confrontation-he liked to be heard.
His writing that he left behind was vast in topics. He liked to talk about mental health but did not shy from any other topic. Aside from anything on Vocal, non of his other writings were published. His body was donated to science and he left no family behind. A close friend dealt with his affairs and his only wish was that Renard was given a nice home and was to be passed down generations.
