The Parents We Never Got To Choose
We don't choose our parents, but we make our decisions.

Children don’t choose their parents. Given the chance, many children would say that they wish they could. Tag, you're it.
First of all, let me say this: Consider yourself blessed if you can have children. Many women can't. Now, moving on to the story.
Many parents don't show love for their child and this is why some children end up on the wrong side of the law. They may become gang members, murderers and in some cases, serial killers.
The funny part is, when the children get in trouble, some of the parents decide that they love their child so much all of a sudden. They come up with reasons why the child is behaving like that. They don't understand why he/she would do something like this.
They come from a loving home. If the home was so loving, why is the child in a detention center, depending on crime and age, about to be tried as an adult? There is no love here. Stop looking for attention. The attention you are drawing to yourself is the attention you should have been showing your child.
Children should have a special bond with their parents. Keyword "should". But there are so many parents that don't. Some parents are trying to build that bond but because of the past, its difficult. Mothers trying to re-build their lives and get their children back, fathers trying to re-build that bond with their sons and so many other scenarios.
Moving right along. You cant be mad at your child for doing something you have done or are doing. It's called "lead by example". If you don't lead the right example, what do you expect your child to do? The answer: Everything that they saw you do and more.
Today, my generation is always told we have a mouth/attitude problem. But where did we get it from? Both of our parents. Each parent blames the other parent but that's not the case. You are your daddy's child. You are your moma's child. People joke around like that and laugh about it but when its said out of hatred, its not funny anymore. DNA comes from both people so a child has tendencies of each parent.
But what some parents need to realize is, from the generation of 40 and up is this: what you view as disrespect is our opinion; ya’ll may disagree with it, you always want to be right but you never apologize for being wrong.
Some parents love to say I told you so when they think something has happened in their favor. But, when their child is praised for doing it in a better way, they try to take all the credit. The child should say "I told you so."
We don't get to choose our parents. So many of us say that we wish we could. Things work different in all households. Some of us grew up being told we were miracle children and blessings. The majority of us have been called mistakes, accidents, I wasn't supposed to have you, the list goes on. Sad to say, these parents go to bed every night without a care in the world.
But then, you have the in-denial parents. Knowing that they have biological children but claim them as other relatives. Oh, that's my niece. Thats my nephew. No sir or ma'am, that your son or daughter. This is the child no one knew about because you may have had a marital affair that you hid, or in a woman's case, a hidden teenage pregnancy that everyone covered up so that the family could still go on living their lie. Not life. Lie.
Parents, you have to be careful who you date. Everyone is attracted to you but may be looking at your children as well. Child molesters no longer have a preference. I'm just keeping it 100.
To end my story, I say this: A child doesn't choose their parents or their early path in life. As an adult, you choose what's next so use that bright light (brain).
