The One-a-day Reading Challenge for Writers
Vocal Edition!

Hello, fellow Vocal writers! You inspire me each and every day with your amazing stories and articles. I've been on Vocal since 2021, and it has been an incredible four years watching this community grow and thrive.
I recently published a piece on my Substack publication about what I'm calling the "One-a-Day Reading Challenge for Writers." In that piece, I highlighted some of the amazing people in the writing community online, and I quickly realized that I needed a second version of the article for Vocal, so here we are!
But First, A Shout-out to The Vocal Community
Before we get into the challenge I have for you all, I want to highlight some of the amazing feedback and interactions I've had with Vocal writers in the last year.

There are far too many amazing writers on Vocal for me to give them all a shout out here, but I wanted to give a virtual round of applause to everyone featured in the image above:
I couldn't fit any more screenshots into my lovely Canva collage above, but I must also add Dharrsheena Raja Segarran, who was featured in last week's bonus leaderboard!
Like I said, there are far too many amazing and talented writers here on Vocal. And here's the thing, I'm not highlighting these folks because they said nice things about my work (they did, but that's beside the point), I'm highlighting them because I see these people everywhere in the community spreading positivity.
And that's what this new challenge is all about.
The One-a-day Challenge for Readers and Writers

This challenge doesn't have a beginning and it doesn't have an end. Sorry, that sounds ominous. What I meant to say, is that this challenge is ongoing. The goal is to spread positivity and support to your fellow writers, both on Vocal and across the web.
The rules are simple: each day I want you to find a Vocal story, article, poem, haiku, or anything in between. Give it a read, click the like button, and leave a comment. That's it!
If we all do this once per day, a few things are bound to happen:
- We're going to feel more excited about our writing
- We're going to motivate other writers to keep pursuing their craft
- We're going to get inspired by our fellow Vocal authors to write even more
- And finally, we're going to contribute to the greater writing community
In your comment, tell the writer what you liked, share what you think could be improved (keep things balanced), or just encourage them to write more.
No matter how long or short your comment is, it's going to mean the world to them. How do I know?
Because your comments mean the world to me.
Ready to Take on the Challenge?
So, let’s recap. I want you, yes you, to find a piece of writing each day, read it, and leave a comment. That’s it! Depending on the work, it might take five minutes. Ten minutes for a short story (or twenty if you read some of my work).
The writing community is already incredibly supportive, but I think this challenge could help us grow even more. Not only as writers, but as people. If you decide to take on the challenge, let me know in the comments!
In the meantime, I’ll be out there every day, finding and supporting my fellow Vocal writers. Thanks for reading!
