The love was real, but so were the lies
Looking back now
When you believe you’ve found the person you’re going to spend your life with, you give them parts of yourself without thinking twice.
You trust what they say because their actions seem to match their words.
You build memories, make plans, and start seeing the future through them.
Then one day you realize they weren’t honest about things that mattered. The love may have been real, but so were the lies, and that’s what makes it so hard to make sense of.
Looking back changes memories that once brought you comfort because you know there was truth mixed with deception.
It’s hard to understand how someone can look you in the eyes, tell you they love you, and still choose to hide things from you. That kind of betrayal doesn’t disappear when the relationship ends.
It stays with you because trust is hard to rebuild once it’s been broken by someone you never thought would be the one to break it.
