'The Evangelical Imagination' is an academic type of book written by Karen Swallow Prior. To me the basic premise of this book is how evangelicals see and hear the Word and how they interpret what it means. She writes that these stories, images, and metaphors are how society and culture want to believe in how they believe is the right way to believe. She writes showing all these ideas as through classic literature like Milton's Paradise Lost, The Canterbury Tales and a few others. It really is in how we believe and share in what we know about beliefs.
