The End Of Gregory Stock, Ph.D The Book Of Questions Prompts
Prompts 195, 199, 200, 200+
Author’s Note: First, what is next? These prompts are over! Okay, I've ordered some additional possible prompts that are due here any day now!
Gregory Stock, PhD. The Book Of Questions prompts — Of all the people close to you, whose death would you find most disturbing?
Our children, grand and great-grandchildren!
My husband! My siblings, family, and close friends
Comments to boomers that our children can die before us, with the reasons why, make me sad. I will, on occasion, say that out loud to my husband. With seven children, it is a definite possibility.
Out of five siblings, all younger than me, two are now deceased. We adopted a sibling a few years ago, but he is only three years younger than I. At my age, I am seeing more and more people my age and younger dying.
When I receive birthday notices for people on Facebook, occasionally, there are more deceased than the one or two I am going to wish a happy birthday to.
I have to go on and delete people from my Facebook, only that will make their deaths more real for me. Then there are some, like my sister and brother, that I can’t delete.
Gregory Stock, PhD. The Book Of Questions prompts — You are given $1,000,000 to donate anonymously to a charity or to a stranger. How would you dispose of it?
A charity for finding a cure for cancer!
I have a cancer fundraiser every year in my sister’s memory, and this year we raised almost $4,000. I was told a fund would match it, but now I learned they are only matching a small portion of it. At this rate, it will take the rest of my life to raise even a small part of that million.
This year's fundraiser donation is going toward gas cards for people attending oncology appointments at a hospital about an hour away from me. I normally fundraise at Powwow For Hope, which has moved to an every-other-year event.
Our goal at Powwow for Hope is always $500. and the last few years, we have raised closer to $1,400. It is a half-day event with everything donated. We have items to bid on, and we sell raffle tickets for prizes.
Gregory Stock, PhD. The Book Of Questions prompts — In conversation, do you tend to talk or listen more?
It depends on who I am with. My husband would say I talk more. I am a storyteller, and he thinks I can tell my story in a couple of sentences, rather than a whole page or two or 3 minutes. My favorite time with my husband is laughing together, as he has the humor I enjoy!
If I am with a friend who is a good listener, I can talk and talk. And if I am with a friend who needs to talk, I am a good listener. It feels like we take turns.
Gregory Stock, PhD. The Book Of Questions prompts — What are you looking for when you converse with people? What kinds of things do you usually discuss? Are there other things that would be more interesting to you?
I will talk to most people. I have no trouble with that, and I want to talk to them about life in general. The weather is easiest and right now most changeable. I like to learn new things and hear what others are doing, and how they enjoy their life. I feel better hearing others’ enjoyment of life.
I will also hear the sad things in life. I have been told, “I’ve never told anyone that, and I don’t know why I told it to you.” I say it’s okay, and I will not tell anyone you told me that. It is just between you and me, but it does help to release some secrets, as I was taught that secrets will keep us sick.
