The difficulty of writing what you mean the first time around

I started writing quite a while back now all the way in 2012 when I first started freewriting scribbling notes into a paper journal to then rewrite and post on my personal blog.

The writing game is tough, all the more so in being able to fully explain what you mean the first time around for your audience to understand and fully get your message across.

The same can be said in life, sometimes you only really have one opportunity to speak out and you need to choose your words wisely to deliver the strongest impact, many times i've looked back in life and wished I had the edit button to redo what I really wanted to say, i've played the same conversation in my head afterwards and done a homer simpson like Doh when realising how silly I was for missing the obvious.

I have a lot of respect for the writers out there who are putting themselves on the line. I take a bit too much advantage of the edit button, but there are writers who need to get it right the first time everytime and when submitted there is simply no way back. Writers are living and dying by the sword, because that is what it is, a battle to get your voice heard in a sea of voices, and your value is held to ransom by the audiences interpretation of your work.

Thoughts do not always translate onto paper and there is always the desire for redaction followed by the revival. I can always be a little more concise, more articulate, more accurate, more genuine, more interesting. The pursuit of perfection drives many creative people forward, we are never quite fully satisfied with the finished product, the power and lure of the edit button always calls us.

I have edited my own posts multiple times, I have been perhaps too eager to submit and move onto the next story post, not because I do not care about the quality of my posts, but because I tend to freewrite by my inspirations during the time out of fear of losing the motivation later down the line. I have sometimes spent months knowing the story is not where I want it to be but have been unable to find the right words to finish it, then suddenly one rainy evening out of the blue it will all just come to me.

Perhaps I just wasn't where I needed to be in my mind and life at the time to find the words. I am not a professional writer, but I still strive for the best in my stories because I take pride in them, I share at times deeply personal accounts of events which have shaped who I am as a person but sometimes my own writing style and limitations get in the way of being able to deliver the message and impact I was hoping to achieve.

I can only write as much as what is on my mind but sometimes the posts I have already worked on have evolved over time and require much deeper narrative than my brain could process back when first created. Much of it is also self growth, personal development and understanding of the subject and the world as time goes by, and simply looking at things from a different perspective to enable me to write and deliver content in a more reflective and well rounded tone.

There are many video content creators who probably wish they could turn back time on the work created by their younger selves, this is the reputational risk all content creators face when publishing to mass audiences, those same words can potentially cause greater problems for you down the line if you are not consciously aware of your own limitations and ethically sound in your conviction. Still the only way to fail is to try, and we all live by our mistakes.

I didn't realise how much I was thankful for the edit button in the virtual world but it is a good life lesson to take into the real world, if you get a chance to edit, do so, because its not always the case for real life.
