The Cheaper Route
Will it pay off or will it crash and burn
Now that AI, (artificial intelligence) has arrived. Companies are embracing this new technology. They are spending millions and some even billions of dollars to have the best of the best creative tools embedded in their platforms.
But what is it about this secret sauce that has leaders of these Fortune 500 companies so excited and willing to risk everything for it. Is it the control of it all? The ability of not having to ask team members for help.
Because with people they have to be paid, is that something the executives don't want to do anymore? Is it that they are tired of members calling in sick so now they are short staff and don't have the resources they need for their business to be productive.
Or vacation time to relax and spend with your family so you ask for a day, week, or month off? Or maybe it's the healthcare benefits that they don't like paying four on an annual basis, because it takes millions of dollars away from their company and their way of doing things.
But when the covid pandemic, took over the world like a storm, it literally shut the whole economy down. There were no workers able to work, no businesses able to run, and no products like toilet tissue were on the store shelves to be purchased.
All there was, were time. Everyone was waiting on what to do next. But during this time, there were a lot of things brewing in the background. Like opportunities that no one knew existed yet. But as time continued to move, creativity started to happen.
Like the old saying, says desperate times call for desperate measures. That's how it was! Because businesses had to get back to work, but the people weren't quite ready yet to be outdoors. And that's when zoom surfaced, connecting families, coworkers, and businesses together. All from the comfort of their homes.
But when the pandemic started to fade, businesses were ready for team members to come back to the office at the job. But the team members had become comfortable working from home. Because they could save money, not having to pay for gas, Spend time with their family more, because they didn't have to get up so early, and take a nap on their break, because for some the couch or the bed was right there.
And doing this time is when the unthinkable happened, a shift that caught the leaders off guard. (Control & Power) These two things were no longer in the hands of the employers, but now becoming a tug of war with the employees.
Every time the leaders demanded back to the office, the team members refused. Sending a straightforward message to the leaders that y'all are no longer in charge, We Are. Which made the leaders very upset. So much so that CEOs were asking the government to help them out, by demanding the team members to report back to the office one to two days a week some three days a week and others everyday of the week, or risk losing their jobs.
Many went back to the office, but also a lot refused to go back and stay home, quitting that particular job and contracting with companies like Uber, Lyft or doordash. They had just become sick and tired of the nine to five, so many demands from their bosses, and the lost time of being away from their family because of all the hours they had to spend at work.
Team members were taken their life, freedom, and time back, all while generating great income. But on the leadership side this made them furious. While team members are enjoying their new way of doing things, founders and leaders were looking for a new plan.
And on November 30th 2022, the new plan that the founders and leaders were looking for surfaced, when openAI, release ChatGPT. This technology opened up a world of options. And when that happened leaders saw opportunities.
Artificial intelligence AI, was a door of opportunities for them to take back what they feel like they had lost, Control and Power. And with this technology not only could they get that back, but they could own it all. With no kickback!
It is a tool that listens and executes, never gets sick, asks for a pay raise, a day off or to go on vacation. No more healthcare benefits, no 401k’s. This is something that businesses love, and are willing to spend top dollars on AI, just so they don't have to deal with this anymore.
Which in the long run would be a cheap way of doing things for them. But will the cheap way out truly be worth it. Will the leaders of these companies really be able to save money? Even though they have artificial intelligence working for them. There is no way that they can receive their paycheck and spend the money, AI, Only the people can do that.
Right now, companies are building these artificial intelligence AI agents that can pay bills and buy groceries, but if there's no work and places for people to work, the agent we have no money to spend.
Before any more billions of dollars are tossed up in the air making it rain. Founders and leaders that's running these companies should really stop and think about this long term. After the AI boom is long gone! Will the business survive, because artificial intelligence can only do so much, but without the people, the economy can't grow, money can't circulate.
This is something that has to be thought about too, before it's too late. Because the cheap way might not be the best way, but if it's done the right way everybody can win.
