Talking Hearts
Couples Edition
The Talking Hearts Couples Edition prompts are quick conversation starters for couples new to the relationship or dating game as well as for those couples that think they know everything about their mate.
Talking Hearts cards prompt: Did you google me before our first date?
Talking Hearts cards prompt: What's a big risk you've taken in the past?
"John" and Denise: "What is google?" We both laughed. "Was there even a google when we got together?" Probably. "We have been together for twenty-six plus years now." Well, maybe not. Let's try googling now.
John: It talks about your writing for Medium.com and training at MARRCH. Many photos of you, family and friends. Stories written.
Denise: And for you, primarily obituaries of different John Lindquists that died, headstones, and many different John Lindquists photos. I did not see one photo of you.
Risks
John: A big risk I took when I was younger, prior to recovery was driving drunk. Besides the four driving while intoxicated (DWI), I remember driving in and out of ditches, and not thinking once about how if a car was coming down the road we would have crashed.
Denise: I never got a DWI, however, I sure could have. I always thought I was a better driver when drinking. More relaxed.
John: Right, and so did I. The difference is I could have had 1,000 DWI's, and I only got caught four times.
Denise: More laughter. So glad we aren't drinking anymore for our sake and everyone else's sake too.
Talking Hearts cards prompt: What reality tv or game show would you want to be on?
Talking Hearts cards prompt: What's one of your favorite memories from childhood?
Reality TV
John: That is easy. It is Alone! No question. I would like to give that a try. Putting my survival skills into practice.
Denise: This is a tough one for me. I couldn't be on a game show at my age. And then I am not interested in Alone or Naked and Afraid, or anything like that. Maybe a documentary of some kind.
Native Americans, storytelling, Counselor training? I don't know. Theatre maybe about how it helps to participate in theatre if you have been a chameleon for much of your life.
Then much laughter and teasing. John thinks we would be great on a couple's survival show. I told him, I wouldn't want to have to save his old butt every day for months.
Favorite Memories
John: It would be playing baseball with my dad and brother. I loved every minute of that.

Denise: Mine would be going to the circus with my dad and two younger brothers. It was fun, and I picked out a kewpie doll for my sister who could not go with us as she was sick at home with mom.

Talking Hearts cards prompt: If you could pick a tattoo for me, wht would it be?
Talking Hearts cards prompt: What is currently going well in your life?
Tattoo
John: That is easy, I would want a heart with my name in the center for a tattoo for you! I know you said that one tattoo is enough but only one more can't hurt.
Denise: I like that idea for you too. You already have John on your arm from when you were a kid. So, you could put a heart around your name after adding my name in there and a plus sign and the Forever word, right?
Going well
John: You know that I am living my dream!
Denise: Yes, I know, and that means being retired, not ever having to work for anyone again. Then you have all your toys, and the ability to maintain them. We can have just enough time with family and friends. And best of all is your partner, your wife. Right?
John: Yes, right!
Denise: I think about how our children and grandchildren are doing well. How we get to live life to the fullest. Even with a broken ankle. I love that we both have recovery. I love that I have a conscious contact with a God of my understanding. All is going well!
