Denise: My fourth grade teacher, who was a nun. Sister Philippa, OSB. I stayed in touch with her until after my children were born. I introduced her to my babies. And I have a photo of her on my printer, along with a photo of my mother and sister, who are all deceased.

John: Oliver and Joann Canty. I knew them after I moved to Bena. They were the parents of my best friend and his brother. They had eight children and they treated me like one of their own. I visited them yearly and saw my friends just a handful of times as adults. I would catch up with how every one was doing through them.

Denise: They were great people and appreciated going to their house with you after we met and throughout our time together.

New Favorite Song
Denise: My all-time favorite song is Rainy Night in Georgia. Then it would be some Ojibwe songs I sing every week. Water songs. Then I just called to say I love you. (The sign above reminded me of that). There was Janis Joplin in the younger years. Then because it says new - I listen to top hits music on the radio it would be Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars - Die with a Smile, Taylor Swift and so many others. I just enjoy most music today, including symphony, and opera.

John: No new favorites. My old favorites are George Jones and Conway Twitty songs.

Denise: It is because you are so old!

Being a better communicator
Denise: By checking out your hearing. Maybe hearing aids? Working at being a more patient listener.

John: Realizing that you are not a mind reader would help!

Denise: My profession gave me lots of practice at trusting my intuition. I am usually right too! But thanks for the tip!

Best and Worst Purchases
Denise: I don't know what it would be for either. Help me John!

John: That is easy. It would be your Dodge Journey as even after you drove it for 260,000 miles, without problems, our grand still drives it without problems.

Denise: No, I am mad at Chrysler and will never drive a Dodge again after what happened with my Dodge Ram, diesel truck!

That is it! The Dodge Ram diesel is both my best and worst purchase. I loved how it looked and how it was loaded. It was a perfect change of life vehicle for me.

And it was the worst because I really couldn't afford to drive it or have work done on it as it was expensive. And Chrysler wrecked it for me with not fixing it without all the added expense. It was afterall their replacement recall.

John: It was a Ford pinto for the worst. And my Stratoliner for the very best of all of my bikes!

Biggest hurdles overcome as a couple
Denise: Being from opposite political parties.

John: Your cancer! Our journey with cancer.

Denise: And both are still ongoing things. But we have figured it out, and what we haven’t, we will!

Physical trait liked about self
Denise: Hands and fingernails. Always get compliments when polished, even when I don't think they look good. Now, due to wrinkling hands it's probably my easy smile.

John: My Arms. It used to be my hair at one time.

Denise: You mean your pythons? Well, it is a good thing you were balding on top, as that is what really attracted me to you! Months before I met you, I was attracted by crew cuts and balding men and thought I was going crazy, when really, I was just getting ready for you!
