Indian festival holi
**Holi: The Festival of Colors** Holi, often referred to as the "Festival of Colors," is one of the most vibrant and joyous festivals celebrated in India and among Hindu communities worldwide. It marks the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil, making it a significant cultural and religious event. The festival usually falls in March, symbolizing the onset of spring when nature blooms with new life and colors. People eagerly anticipate this time to bid farewell to the chilly winter and embrace the warmth and brightness of spring. Streets and homes come alive with the hustle and bustle of preparations, as excitement builds up days before the actual celebration. Preparations for Holi begin weeks in advance. Markets brim with colorful powders and water guns, known as "pichkaris," that are used to drench friends and family in hues of red, green, blue, yellow, and more. These colors symbolize the various shades of joy, love, and the vibrancy of life itself. Families gather to make traditional sweets like gujiya and prepare savory snacks, enhancing the festive spirit. On the day of Holi, the atmosphere transforms into a riot of colors and laughter. People come out in their white clothes, ready to be painted with gulal (colored powders) and colored water. The air reverberates with chants of "Holi Hai!" (It's Holi!) as everyone, regardless of age, gender, or social status, joins in the revelry. One of the most enchanting aspects of Holi is how it breaks down barriers and brings people together. During the festival, societal norms are temporarily set aside, and strangers playfully color each other with powdered dyes. The festival dissolves differences and fosters a sense of unity and camaraderie. Holi also holds deep cultural and mythological significance. It commemorates the legend of Holika and Prahlad, signifying the victory of devotion and virtue over malevolence. Bonfires, known as Holika Dahan, are lit the night before Holi to symbolize the burning away of negativity and evil forces. Beyond its religious roots, Holi has become a global phenomenon celebrated with enthusiasm in various parts of the world. In different cultures, its essence of spreading happiness and embracing diversity resonates deeply. In recent years, Holi-inspired events and parties have gained popularity internationally, attracting people of all backgrounds to experience its exuberance firsthand. Moreover, Holi teaches valuable lessons of forgiveness, renewal, and the importance of joy in life. It encourages people to let go of past grievances and start afresh with a colorful outlook. The festival serves as a reminder to cherish relationships, celebrate life's diversity, and find beauty in every moment.

We Can't Make People Read Our Work
Introduction This is more observations about our creations on Vocal. I am reasonably prolific and I certainly don't expect anyone to read all or even part of my work, but we all want a little recognition to confirm that we are moving in the right direction. I try to comment as much as I can to let people know that I have read their story and sometimes I find I am the only one in there, and think "Why has nobody else read this" and then if I have the option I share in one or more of the Facebook Groups.
