An Audiobook for Every Occasion
Who wants to read when they can listen? I wrote a piece a while back about how I was making auto-narrated audiobooks. I was disappointed in them because I didn't like how the limited voices sounded when they swore (I write fiction), but I also liked the auto-narration because then an actor can't offer an opinion on the text through their tone. It was cheaper. It was faster. I'm not an important novelist. I don't have a publishing company. I'm an independent novelist and I just do my own thing. It's more important to get my books under the eyes and ears of the public than to concern myself about perfect presentation. There's no need to die under my perfectionism. If there was, I would have quit writing ages ago and focused on cleaning my bathroom.

Now, I’m here on Medium to connect with writers like you—sharing my experiences, lessons learned, and the realities of making money through writing. The key? Don’t limit yourself to one platform. Each space offers new opportunities to reach different audiences. 2. Consistency is More Important Than Perfection As writers, we often get caught up in the idea of perfection. But the truth is, perfection can be the enemy of progress. I used to spend hours tweaking the same paragraph, convinced it wasn’t good enough. Now, I focus on consistency—posting daily chapters, writing blog posts, and sharing on social media even when it doesn’t feel perfect. Lesson learned: Showing up regularly builds more connections than a “perfect” post ever could. 3. Diversifying Income Streams Making money as a writer isn’t just about book sales. I started writing for Opera News about finance, tapping into a niche I’m passionate about. This not only provides an income stream but also grows my credibility in a new field. The Power of Storytelling Beyond Fiction Even when I’m not writing novels, storytelling is at the heart of everything I do.
