Messed Up? It Doesn't Have to End You.
Nothing compares to the sense of complete helplessness and despair that follows significant failures and mistakes in life. It feels like your heart is being pierced by a dagger. Usually, the mistake hits us so hard that it takes months or even years to get over it. I've been in that position a few times, and each time I made a huge mistake, I questioned how I could forgive myself. There were times when I thought I lacked the strength to continue. Not on an emotional level. Not in a spiritual sense. Not in the mind. And certainly not in a physical sense.

The Calm Within. AI-Generated.
As I perched at my workstation, gazing vacantly at the sheet before me, I couldn't help but feel a wave of bewilderment sweep over me. The cutoff for my composition was approaching and I was flailing to concoct a solitary lucid notion. My mind was a jumble of ideas, each one competing for attention like a chorus of noisy children. I felt like I was drowning in a sea of uncertainty, with no lifeline in sight. That's when I remembered the words of a wise friend: "The calm within is the greatest source of creativity." I had always been skeptical of such New Age-y notions, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and began to focus on the sensation of the air moving in and out of my body. It was a simple technique, one that I had learned from a meditation app on my phone. At first, my mind resisted. It was like trying to tame a wild mustang every time I thought I had a handle on my thoughts, they would buck and rear up, refusing to be contained. But I persisted. I breathed in, focusing on the sensation of the air filling my lungs. I breathed out, feeling the tension release from my body. Slowly but surely, my mind began to calm. The chatter of thoughts grew quieter, until it was almost imperceptible. I felt a sense of stillness, like the surface of a pond on a windless day. And then, like a lotus flower blooming in the depths of my mind, an idea began to take shape. It was a simple concept, one that I had been trying to grasp for weeks. But now, with the calm within guiding me, it seemed crystal clear. I opened my eyes, and my fingers flew across the keyboard as I began to write. The words flowed effortlessly, like a river meandering through the landscape of my mind. The ideas that had been eluding me for so long now seemed obvious and I wrote with a sense of clarity and purpose. As I worked, I felt a sense of joy and fulfillment that I had never experienced before. It was as if I had tapped into a deep well of creativity, one that was waiting to be accessed. The hours passed, and the words continued to flow. I wrote until the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the room. And when I finally stopped, exhausted but exhilarated, I knew that I had created something truly special. The calm within had guided me and I had tapped into a source of creativity that I never knew I had. From that day on, I made a promise to myself to always seek out the calm within. I knew that it was the key to unlocking my full potential and to creating work that was truly meaningful. And as I sat at my desk, surrounded by the quiet of the night, I felt a sense of peace and contentment wash over me. I knew that I had found my inner calm and that it would guide me on my creative journey for years to come. As the days went by, I found myself returning to the calm within again and again. It became my sanctuary, my safe haven and my source of inspiration. I learned to cultivate it, nurture it and to trust it. I began to notice that the calm within was not just a state of mind but a state of being. It was a sense of connection to myself, to others and to the world around me. It was a sense of harmony of balance and of flow. As I wrote, I found that the calm within guided me. It helped me to focus, to concentrate and to create. It gave me the clarity, the confidence and the courage to express myself fully. I wrote about the calm within, about its transformative power and about its ability to guide me on my creative journey. I wrote about the sense of peace, joy and of fulfillment that it brought me. And as I wrote, I found out that the calm within was not just a personal experience but a universal one. It was a state of being that was available to everyone, regardless of their background, their circumstances or their creative pursuits. I began to share my experience with others, to talk about the calm within, and to encourage them to seek it out for themselves. I shared my techniques, my tips and my strategies for cultivating the calm within. And as I shared, I watched as others began to experience the transformative power of the calm within themselves. I watched as they found their own sense of peace, joy and of fulfillment. I realized that the calm within was not just a personal experience but a collective one. It was a shared state of being that connected us all, that united us in our humanity and that inspired us to create, to express ourselves and to live fully. And so, I continue to write, to share, and to inspire others to seek out the calm within themselves. I continue to cultivate it, nurture it and to trust it. For I know that the calm within is the source of all creativity, the spark that ignites the flame of inspiration and the guiding force that leads us on our journey of self-expression and discovery.

An open letter to the voices in my head
Dear Echoes in my mind I understand how enraging it becomes from time to time to express yourself, to finally say what's on your mind, to bury your sadness and angst through my being. Because I know how infuriating it is to be confined in an endless labyrinth of what-ifs and curating the worst-case scenarios for every stance we go through. I know all you are trying to do is protect me from the potential perils of my existential stride, to shield me from the externality of how horrendous the world could be. I behold your concern, I see you as you are and I feel your pain, but I want to be honest with you and I am tired. I am tired of your constant whispers of how bad the world is, how everything can turn against me or how I can become better because the present me is not good enough.

My Journey in January and February 2025: Embracing the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
I messed up! In complete honesty, 2025 has been a whirlwind of difficulties and lessons that have humbled me in its entirety. Though lasting only two months in its stretch, I have danced through the storms that have wearied the brevity of my soul. Some days were radiating with a sense of hope and oozing peace that displayed the possibility of a bright future, while others had a sense of doom, the kind of despair that doesn't go away with a full night's sleep, or ice cream or a warm bubble bath. It is the kind of tiredness that lingers onto your soul in its deepest trench, leaving no room for any light to enter.
