It was just a random morning when I woke up and checked my mail. There was an email from my college stating that classes for new first-year students would begin the day after tomorrow. I informed my parents, and they suggested that I should leave the next day to reach on time.
Without delay, I packed my luggage and went to bed early, as my train was scheduled for early the next morning. The following day, I woke up at dawn and headed to the railway station with my dad. Since it was my first time studying away from my hometown, he decided to accompany me.
While we waited at the station, the train arrived with a loud horn. We boarded, and to my surprise, I noticed some familiar faces inside. Two of my friends from higher secondary school were on the same train. We started talking and soon realized that we had all been admitted to the same college.
After traveling for five to six hours, the train reached our destination. The college was about 30 kilometers away from the station, so we took a cab to get there. Upon arrival, we completed the admission process and were assigned our hostel rooms. To our delight, my two friends and I were given the same room.
Once we settled in, our parents bid us farewell and returned to our hometowns. Since it was our first day, we decided to explore the campus and familiarize ourselves with the surroundings. As evening approached, we returned to the hostel, had some snacks, and spent time reminiscing about home.
We talked a lot about college life and our expectations. Later, we headed to the canteen for dinner before returning to our room to unpack and arrange our belongings. There, we met two more students who happened to be from a town near ours. We instantly connected and spent the night sharing jokes and stories.
That night, I went to bed early, exhausted from the long journey and the excitement of the day. Though I felt a bit homesick, I also looked forward to the new experiences that awaited me in this new chapter of life.
