The silence caught me off guard. I know, it’s ridiculous. I know it’s there, always waiting. Sometimes we try to talk over it, but there it is.
It’s so fucking loud sometimes, absolutely deafening. But don’t you worry, I figured out what it’s there for—it’s a space for my voice. Absurdly simple, I know, but there it is.
Yes, it’s different this time, but only because you hear it, too.
