In a shocking turn of events during the S. Maya murder trial, chaos erupted inside the courtroom on Monday, as fists flew and panic ensued following an altercation between prison wardens and accused numbers three, four, and five. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has now confirmed the opening of an assault case against these accused individuals.

The violence erupted during a tea break when prison wardens instructed some of the accused to sit properly in court. Afri Forum, a group supporting the Maya family, labeled the incident as a serious one, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. The courtroom turned into a battleground, causing a stir among onlookers.

Brigadier Aenda Mate of the SAPS confirmed the assault charges, stating, "The South African Police Service can confirm that we are investigating a case of assault following an incident in court on Monday where a prison official was attacked by accused three, four, and five."

Afri Forum's Advocate Kinel underscored the seriousness of the incident, expressing concerns about the safety of prison wardens in the execution of their duties. Security measures have been heightened since the altercation, with Correctional Services beefing up personnel to escort the accused to court.

Advocate Kinel also reiterated Afri Forum's belief that Maya's murder was a contract killing, shedding light on the group's long-standing assertion. He stated, "More and more people now understand why we said that from the start. We believe it's more than a robbery that went wrong but rather a contract killing."

As the trial unfolds, the lead investigator, Brigadier Bongani Ginda, faces allegations of assault against accused number one, Muia, and accused number two, Bongan Danzi. However, Ginda vehemently denies any involvement in the alleged assault, and cross-examination continues inside the courtroom.

The courtroom drama intensifies, with conflicting accounts and a web of allegations creating an atmosphere of uncertainty around the S. Maya murder trial.
