Every day we give each other little gifts whether it be the smile we offer the stranger on the street, or the small bids for conversation we open up to each other moment by moment. A comment about the beauty of the sky, asking about each other's day, or even just giving the person you love space when they need it can all be small gifts we offer the ones we l0ve on a daily basis.

The meme you get from your dad, or the article about that thing you're struggling with from your mom... the check-in text you send your friend when you know they're having a rough week, or the song you send your neighbour to make their day brighter. These are all non-monetary but tangible ways we show our love.

So why not slip a poem between the reels and TikToks?

Here are 8 poems to gift your lover, from the bookworm you love to the ex you regret. Although maybe don't text your ex. Maybe just send that one to your bestie while you complain about your ex.

That's still love!

So without further adieu, here are 8 poems to gift your lover.

"O Beautiful Bibliophile" by D.J. Reddall

This is one of my favourite entries to Vocal's Abecedarian challenge! Us bookworms can only dream of being observed as lovingly as D.J. Reddall observes his Beautiful Bibliophile in this wonderful piece.

A perfect poem to gift the book-lover in your life!

"Blossoms of Love: A Haiku Reflection" by Daphsam

This sweet haiku is moving in its simplicity. Each word brings a new layer of imagery and emotion, leaving its reader breathless. Oh to be cradled in love's sweet rays!

This is a perfect poem for your new lover.

"You've Gifted Me Rest" by Oneg in The Arctic

In a world full of chaos and misunderstanding, perhaps the best gift we can give to each other is peace and recognition. This sentiment and the true weight of the gift we give each other by being each other's refuges in the storm of life is perfectly expressed in Oneg's poem.

This is a poem to gift the person who gifts you rest.

"Pink Lips" by Chloe Rose Violet

This is a perfect poem of desire and sensuality - the fire that stokes a relationship in the first place.

Chloe's poem is the perfect gift for the one in your life that makes you say, wow - that is (as Chloe writes,) "One hell of a woman."

"1+1=0" by Naomi Gold

One of the most beautiful parts of a relationship is feeling like you can wholly be yourself side by side one another. Naomi's poem conveys this beauty and profundity of finding that person who feels no need to "complete" you, but who finds you complete all on your own.

A poem to gift the lover who makes you feel comfortable in your own wholeness.

"The Fairest Of Them All" by Kelli Sheckler-Amsden

For anyone feeling scorned by the temptation of a lovely fantasy, this is your piece. Another fabulous entry to Vocal's Abecedarian challenge, Kelli's piece is vivid in its imagery until you find yourself getting lost in the very web she warns about.

A poem to gift your ex-lover, perhaps.

"Spellbound" by Randy Baker

Speaking of webs, Randy Baker's poem is a captivating and enchanting tale of the urge to wander into the abyss of love, even when you know it might not be healthy. Some love is so tempting, we can't help but ignore what we know of sirens or their songs.

A poem to gift your toxic lover, if you will.

"The Strength Within" by Colleen Millsteed

When you are allowed the opportunity to really get to know someone, you begin to see the ways in which the world gets to them. Despite this, the person you love stays true to themselves and works hard, burdening the brunt of this exhaustion. Their hard work, integrity, and determination only strengthens your love for them, even when they're feeling down.

Gift this poem to the lover in your life whose strength you admire.

Sometimes we get caught up in the idea of gifts being grand, outlandish gestures. Gifts can be the company we give to each other, the space we hold for one another, and the little things we do to remind each other we're thinking of them. A quick, "Good morning" text on the way to work, a call on your lunch break, or a short and sweet poem are sometimes all the gifts you need.
