Please don't subscribe to me:

  • If you only post AI-generated content
  • If you only post AI-generated content, even if you attribute it as such
  • If the only comments you leave are 'follow me and I will follow you'

Do you do those things? Then please don't subscribe to me.

Please

Please don't subscribe to me:

  • If you grab my content and run it through AI
  • If you grab my content and run it through AI then use the summary as a comment on what I wrote
  • If you grab my content and run it through AI then publish it as your own

Do you do those things? Then please don't subscribe to me.

Please

Please don't subscribe to me:

  • If you are going to yell at me because I don't read everything you post
  • If you are going to yell at Vocal all the time because you 'don't get reads'
  • If you are going to yell that 'the same people always get Top Story'
  • Do you do those things? The please don't subscribe to me.

Please

SO: Why should you subscribe to me?

I really don't know.

This aside- I can have occasionally perceptive, amusing, thought-provoking, introspective, timely, socially aware (sometimes a little too socially aware, but hey- I'm no spring chicken and my clock is going 'tik-tock' and if not now- when?), instructive, supportive stuff..... so maybe it's worth the risk?

Subscribe to me or not- I am here on Vocal and plan to stay.

I'll answer questions, read as often as I can, cheer on your successes, and leave hearts only after I really read someone's writing.

If I leave a two word comment that means I'm probably peeking at Vocal between other things, or on my lunch break, or when I wake in the middle of the night for that senior walk to the bathroom.

I've connected to several wonderful folks on this platform, and have come to appreciate the effort Vocal puts into maintaining a stable platform that serves the needs of its users.

If you are new I encourage you to read the pieces in Creator 101 (It's under the 'Resource' tab, and yes I did write them. (I encourage everyone to read them even if you aren't new. If you see a place that needs to be updated just left me know- I try to stay on top of it!)

if you feel disenchanted with your Vocal journey, then settle down and have a read of this while we talk together:

For anyone leaving a comment anywhere, I encourage you to check this out:

If I joined Vocal today, what would I do? Glad you asked (and this even has a bonus embedded in it: How to create a multi-author story or article on the platform)

(Did you check it out? No? Well here's the piece just on the group Fiction story. As more incentive; many of the participants won Top Stories. Just sayin')

So, really; don't subscribe to me as part of a follow-for-follow thing. I don't do read swaps. And offering to sell me your account as a quick money-maker won't get you far at all (Plus; that's against the rules)

I don't go chasing followers, but I truly appreciate readers.

My time here on Vocal, now four years and 457 stories and counting, have been as wonderful as they were exasperating.

I've entered both the official Vocal Challenges (which are open to Vocal+ members), and the unofficial Challenges other writer/creators have put together. I've also read and judged some of them, too.

I've worked with four different groups to share collaborative Fiction stories, talked with some face-to-face, others through Chat, Messenger, and Zoom. Had my heart broken more than once, too, when life just wasn't fair.

Life. Vocal is life. it's about what we do with it.
