My Voice in the Void.
When Silence, Support, and Shadows Collide

You don’t mean to end up in this season of your life. You weren’t looking for it. You weren’t chasing it. You weren’t trying to collect men like emotional puzzle pieces that don’t quite fit together. But somehow you’re here, standing in the middle of three different kinds of connection, trying not to lose yourself the way you once did. Trying to keep your voice true. Trying not to chase anyone who won’t meet you halfway. Trying to protect your kids, your sanity, your future. Trying to choose yourself without choosing isolation. It’s messy and loud and confusing and real, and it’s yours.
There’s the one who speaks. He's the one who gives you emotional support without hesitation, the one who never flirts directly but somehow feels closer than the ones who do. He’s the one who tells you to take six months for yourself, to heal, to breathe, to stop giving pieces of yourself to people who don’t know how to hold them. He always helps, always shows up, always says the thing that steadies you. He gives emotional intelligence like oxygen. He gives clarity about you but never about himself. He’s warmth without fire, safety without pursuit, intimacy without claiming. You don’t know what he wants. You don’t know what he means. You don’t know what you are to him. But you know he cares, and sometimes that’s almost enough.
Then there’s the one who doesn’t speak. He’s the opposite. He’s the one who compliments your writing, the one who tells you you’re starting to get noticed, the one who says you don’t get the credit you deserve, the one who says you write better than memory. He looks at you like he sees something, like he’s trying to say something he never actually says. And then he withdraws. He doesn’t talk. He doesn’t explain. He doesn’t hold conversations. He doesn’t tell you anything about himself. He gives physical attention—the spark, the heat, the pull—but no emotional clarity. He’s a locked door with the key taped to the outside, but the tape is old and the key keeps falling off. You don’t know if he’s avoidant or overwhelmed or scared or uninterested. or narcissistic and selfish. You don’t know if he cares or if he doesn’t. You don’t know if he’s trying to protect himself or trying to protect you. You only know he confuses you. And confusion feels like longing when you’re trying not to lose yourself.
And then there’s the one who’s leaving. The shadow. The lesson. The boundary. The reminder of what you refuse to repeat. You’re not losing yourself like that again. You’re not shrinking to fit someone else’s emptiness. He’s the past, and you’re done with the past.
So you stand between them, trying to keep your voice true. Trying not to chase anyone. Trying not to lose yourself or lose your mind. Trying not to confuse attention with intimacy. Trying not to confuse silence with safety. Trying not to confuse emotional support with romantic interest. You’re trying to protect your kids, your heart, your future. You’re trying to choose yourself without choosing loneliness. You’re trying to figure out what any of this means—one man’s emotional warmth, another’s physical pull, another’s fading shadow. You’re trying to understand why you’re drawn to men who give you half-connection. Why you’re standing in the doorway of people who won’t open the room. Why you’re trying to read men who won’t let you see the page. You’re trying to stay yourself, and that’s the hardest part.
You’re contemplating being alone. Not because you’re afraid. Not because you’re broken. Not because you’re giving up. But because solitude feels safer than confusion. Because your voice matters more than someone else’s silence. Because your kids need your stability more than you need someone’s attention. Because you’re learning that you don’t have to chase anyone to be worthy of being chosen. Because you’re learning that you can want connection without losing yourself. Because you’re learning that you can be alone without being lonely. Because you’re learning that you can be whole without being claimed.
You’re writing this because you want your voice somewhere in the void. You’re writing this because you want to be heard. You’re writing this because you’re not trying to be noticed—you’re trying to be real. You’re writing this because you’re choosing yourself first. You’re writing this because you’re done losing yourself for anyone. You’re writing this because you’re standing between three men and finally realizing the only person you need to understand is you. You’re not alone. You’re not chasing. You’re not shrinking. You’re not losing yourself. You’re writing your way back home. you're writing your reality, and some people aren't going to like it. because the truth always hurts. Some will avoid. Some will dissect. some will go silent into the cold black water and never be seen from again.
Maybe.
