My boyfriend is a gangster boss, very notorious and with many underlings.

That's the rumor.

To me, he is simply a lover, a man I can rely on.

"Is that girl the girlfriend of that gangster?"

"Shh, don't point, be careful not to get yourself into trouble."

"How about we befriend her, just in case something happens, her boyfriend might be useful?"

"He’s a gangster, kills without mercy, do you think you have a chance?"

They talk too much; there's no way a gangster would blatantly appear in front of a school gate, right?

"Darling, have you eaten yet?"

"I just ate with friends in the canteen. Today... no tasks?"

"I finished them before coming to see you. Let's go out, okay?"

I smiled under Trương Ôn Hách’s gentle head patting.

We walked past people's gossip, through a thousand societal criticisms, calmly until today.

On the day I received my bachelor's degree, Trương Ôn Hách didn’t come.

I sadly held the bouquet I had prepared, waiting for him at the school gate.

Not until five in the afternoon did the news on the big screen report:

"At two o'clock last night, the police department busted an illegal human trafficking and weapons destruction ring. Three police officers were killed."

"Chu Nhật Long."

"Tạ Bính."

"Trương Ôn Hách."

My world collapsed.

The diploma in my hand felt like a heavy stone, pulling me down. At that moment, my heart seemed to stop.

Trương Ôn Hách’s warm voice gradually echoed:

"I stood in the dark, watching you walk towards the light, and that was enough."
