Just finished reading two related textbooks that I had in grad school. 'The first is 'McKeachie's Teaching Tips'. This is really a great reference book for all teacher's whatever level they teach including Kindergarten. It covers how to teach in all kinds of formats from lectures to discussions to simulations to group work. Throughout the book he offers in gray shaded areas to me are quick summaries of what the chapters are teaching. To me the most important aspect a teacher should do is listen and respect the student and the student should listen and learn from you in class.
The second textbook is entitled 'Fuzard's Innovative Teaching Strategies in Nursing'. This is primarily for nurse educators and health care professionals, but to me could also be used by social workers/counselors as well. It mainly covers what McKeachie's Teaching Tips covers but for this profession and how this profession is taught to newbies and advanced nursing students. Fuzard's is a text in my opinion that reads easy for nursing educators to find new ways to teach their patients or students in different ways to make sure that understanding of a procedure or skill is taking place for teachers and students.
