I didn't die, or quit, or drop off the face of the earth. The update required a new picture of my expired ID. I don't drive, I have a non-driver's license/ State ID, so I didn't think much of it when I realized it had expired. Then, when I got around to doing it, I found that I needed my Marriage license to complete the application, which I no longer had. My mother stole the first one, so I ordered a new one near the beginning of the year, only to promptly forget to actually get it renewed.
When I realized I could no longer publish without one, I got to that application. Unfortunately, it took nearly three weeks just to find enough documents that the DMV would accept, and actually get there to renew. I had to go in, since I had never gotten a real ID. I felt so defeated when the receipt said it would take four to six weeks to receive it. Thankfully, it was only a week and a half!
It has been the longest month of my life because writing is my life. It's what I get out of bed every morning to do. It is what keeps me busy and gives me purpose. My advice to all you beautiful people: don't let your ID expire! You never know when it will be a necessary item that you cannot proceed without.
