I hate you

🥀

By ♡Published 2 years ago • 1 min read

I hate you like that first sip of coffee and it turns out to be too hot

I hate you like when your shoe lace loosens when you tie a pretty knot

I hate you like the rain that falls right after washing my car

I hate you like a movie's end when the story leaves a scar

I hate you like the traffic jam on a day I’m running late

I hate you like a dish that’s served when I know I just can't wait

I hate you like a frozen treat that melts before a bite

I hate you like a buzzing phone that wakes me up at night

I hate you like the moment when my favorite show is gone

I hate you like the silent night that seems to last too long

I hate you like an itch that’s right where I cannot reach

I hate you like the forgotten sunscreen on a sunny beach

I hate you like a broken pen when I need to write it down

I hate you like a perfect day that ends with a stormy frown

I hate you like a song that plays but never leaves my head

I hate you like the words I wish I could have left unsaid

But even through these moments where my anger starts to swell I find it hard to truly hate, as time begins to tell

For hate and love are tangled, in a dance that’s hard to break

And sometimes hate is just a mask for heartache in its wake

So as I list these grievances, my heart begins to see

That maybe what I hate the most is what you meant to me
