Happy Birthday, Mariann Carroll!
some heroes don’t wear capes
A creator on Vocal is celebrating another successful loop around the sun today.
We mainly benefit from Mariann’s interviews, where her natural curiosity about members of the community whose work resonates with her becomes a method for all of us to learn more about our fellow creators.
In addition to that, Mariann is one of the most genuinely caring individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting (virtually, not irl).
Let’s all raise a glass to the birthday girl with all that class!
Below the surface,
in the deep, someone dives
into context: habitat, environment, lived and read experiences,
demonstrating literary theory that lives inside, a humanitarian reader who responds
to quiet vicissitudes hiding
in plain sight, a chaplain to wounded souls,
this woman who sees us in these dark rooms few dare to enter,
calmly approaching, carrying an elixir of healing,
breathing us through the dark corridors
into the sanctuary, illuminated by the candle she brought to life
simply by being there and breathing the air.
Happy birthday, Mariann, and thank you for everything you do.💖🕯️
