I'm no good at making friends. I'm a pretty extreme introvert so the only friends I have are extroverts who have adopted me.
I don't really feel like I'm lacking for friends though. I have very low social requirements so the interactions I get from coworkers, at home and from my few extra-curricular activities is generally enough.
To be honest, having I find having friends something of a burden. If you have friends, they want to go out and do things or meet up for lunch or a coffee. I'd rather stay in and send a few carefully curated memes back and forth.
I like to think I'm a low maintenance friend for this reason, but maybe people just find me to be aloof and standoffish.
My best friend is my spouse, which I think is how it should be. But other than that, the people I care most about are two of my siblings. But I wouldn't really call them friends. I care about them a lot, and other than co-workers and spouse they are the people I talk to the most. But are they friends?
There's only one person in my life who I would call a friend that isn't related or married to me. I haven't seen her in person for more than two years and we often go months without a message sent between us. I have very little idea of what is going on in her life these days. But still, she means the world to me, and I'll always call her my friend even if we fall out of touch.
